The University of Aberdeen is seeking to appoint an innovative and inspiring individual to be our Director of Digital and Information Services. Job Description Joining at a pivotal moment for the institution, you will help drive the development and delivery of an ambitious digital strategy to enhance the University’s technological capability, operational efficiency, user experience, and global competitiveness. You will work with colleagues across our institution to help transform the way we work. In this exciting role, you will lead services including information technology, cybersecurity, information governance, libraries, and university collections. You will ensure these services are reliable, secure, connected and designed around the needs of staff, students and other service users. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and sitting on the University Management Group, you will provide strategic direction. You will advise senior colleagues on issues relating to risk, cyber security, infrastructure resilience and emerging technologies, helping the University make bold and informed investment decisions. We are looking for a senior digital leader with experience of working in a complex organisation and delivering meaningful transformational change. You will bring a strong understanding of digital services, hold experience in leading large teams and budgets, and bring excellent communication skills. The salary for this post is in the range of £97,395 – £120,864 per annum, commensurate with experience. The candidate appointed to this post is expected to be based in the Northeast of Scotland but may be eligible for homeworking on an occasional or regular basis. It is expected that you will spend 4 days per week on campus given the seniority and importance of this role. Research Fellow in Marine Ecology

We are seeking a highly motivated Marine Ecologist to join our collaborative research group at the University of Southampton. This position is funded by the NERC C-FLOOR highlight topic and offers a unique opportunity to investigate how physical disturbance, specifically bottom trawling, influences the capacity of marine sediments to act as net sources or sinks of carbon, nutrients and greenhouse gases. Under the direction of Prof Martin Solan and Prof Jasmin Godbold you will play a central role in this NERC funded project. Specifically, you will undertake a series of manipulative laboratory experiments and field surveys (using sediment profile imaging technology) to link changes in carbon, nutrient stoichiometry and greenhouse gas dynamics with the effects of trawl gears, fishing intensity, sediment types, species composition, and seasonal timing. This position is highly collaborative requiring active engagement with partner institutions across the UK to ensure integrated project outcomes. The role requires that you take a leading role in dissemination of novel findings through high-impact, peer reviewed academic publications while continuously developing advanced technical skills and research competencies within a world-class marine science environment. The successful candidate must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Marine Biology, Marine Ecology, or a closely related discipline by the start date. The candidate should have a strong background in benthic invertebrate community ecology and experience with laboratory experiments, image analysis and the interpretation of complex ecological data. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to have a proven track record in written and oral communication skills with a commitment to collaborative, team-based science. Experience working at sea is desirable. This post is part of an AHRC project, Convergent screen technologies and performance in realtime (CoSTAR). The post will operate within the CoSTAR National Lab led by Royal Holloway University of London with Pinewood Studios, BT, University of Surrey, Abertay University, Disguise, National Film and Television School and Surrey County Council.  The CoSTAR National Lab AI Research Software Engineer will take a significant role in planning, coordinating and implementing research programmes and, where appropriate, commercial and consultancy activities. About you The ideal candidate must have a Master's degree in computer science, electronic engineering, or a related subject.
