The University of Duhok was established in 1992 to address the demand for higher education in the region of Duhok. It began with two colleges of medicine and agriculture and around 200 students and today has 18 colleges and 78 departments educating over 20,000 students. Duhok is located in northwest Iraq in the western Kurdistan region around 470km north of Baghdad. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate studies in a variety of subject areas including medicine, humanities, veterinary medicine, law and administration, engineering and applied sciences, educational sciences, and agriculture and forestry. During their third year at the University of Duhok, undergraduate students complete a month-long internship doing field work to develop their practical knowledge of their chosen subject. The university’s International Relations Office coordinates activities for students to gain international opportunities and links. The Erasmus Mundus Program facilitates students to complete an academic exchange allowing them to develop networking links across the world and gain knowledge of a new country. There is a Student Union on campus allowing students to participate in democratic leadership elections. It also arranges extracurricular activities such as poetry readings, student plays, talent shows and sporting competitions.

About the opportunity Deliver an ARC-funded research project focused on developing environmentally friendly drilling technology through experimental, computational, and applied engineering methods. Conduct advanced research activities including laboratory experiments, numerical modelling (FEM/CFD), and development of AI models to optimise drilling processes. Translate research into outcomes by building prototypes, validating models, and publishing high-quality research outputs in peer-reviewed journals About you PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline.  Demonstrated knowledge, confirmed by publications in the advanced concepts of mechanics of solids, fracture mechanics, thermodynamics and computational methods in application to geomaterials and computational fluid dynamics. Experience in programming, as well as the physical and numerical modelling including the finite element modelling, confirmed by publications. Experience, confirmed by publications in conducting laboratory experiments and testing, including design of additional loading devices necessary for conducting the experiments. Experience in designing and manufacturing demo prototypes. Experience in developing AI models for real time optimisation. Part-time Faculty Member in Music Performance (Ref: SCC260612) The Department of Music (DMUS) at BNBU invites applications from learner-centered scholars/practitioners in the field of music to teach voice (popular) to undergraduate students in the Music Performance programme. Qualifications: A Master’s Degree, PhD or DMA in Music Performance or Music Education, specialising in popular and contemporary voice instruction.
