The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of a part-time (35%)  ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR  The field of the position is medical genetics and the language of instruction is Swedish. The position may be filled as assistant professor, associate professor or professor depending on the candidates’ merits and career stage. The professorship in medical genetics is associated with a research director’s position at Folkhälsan Research Centre. Applicants must submit separate applications for the professorship and the research director’s position. An appointee to the position of assistant professor in the tenure track system shall hold a doctoral degree, have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work and have the teaching skills necessary for the position. In addition, applicants for assistant professorships shall demonstrate their ability and motivation for an academic career through publications and other means. When considering applicants’ qualifications, account shall be taken not only of their research work and teaching qualifications, but also of their success in obtaining external research funding, international research experience and other international experience. An appointee to a professorship shall hold a doctoral degree and have top-level scholarly qualifications, experience in the supervision of scientific research, as well as the ability to provide toplevel research-based teaching and to supervise theses and dissertations. In addition, the appointee shall present documentation of international cooperation in the field of research that he or she represents. Holders of professorships shall also have the skills necessary for serving as an academic leader. When considering the applicant’s qualifications, attention shall be given to scientific publications and other research results of scientific value, teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to produce teaching material, other teaching merits and, if necessary, a demonstration of teaching skills as well as the applicant’s participation in doctoral education. Account shall also be taken of the applicant’s activity in the scientific community, success in obtaining external research funding, international research experience and international elected positions as well as leadership and interaction skills. To ensure that the applicant’s ability to supervise theses and dissertations meets the requirements of the Faculty of Medicine, he or she must have completed the supervision of at least one doctoral dissertation. The requirement for a supervised dissertation must be met by the end of the application deadline. The person performing the university's teaching and research position is required to master the language in which he or she must provide teaching. Successful completion of the task also requires good English language skills. When the language of instruction is Swedish, the language proficiency recommended for successfully attending to the duties of the position corresponds with level C2of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. At the faculty’s discretion, level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages may be accepted as a minimum Swedish language proficiency requirement. The assistant professor /associate professor /professor participates in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education in the field, including small-group and lecture-based teaching. The professor’s duties also include carrying out and supervising scientific research, following related developments in research, and participating in community relations and Finnish and international cooperation in the field. In addition, the professor’s duties include other tasks assigned to the department. The appointee is required to participate in clinical teaching, therefore the person selected for the position must be a licensed physician or have a license to work as a doctor. The salary will be based on level 7 (assistant professor) and 8-10 (professor) of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. Based within Applied Chemistry and Environmental Science in the School of Science at RMIT University, the role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with national and international collaborators in sustainable energy research. The successful candidate will contribute to high-impact research aligned with RMIT's strategic priorities, undertaking both independent and team-based projects in materials science, with a particular emphasis on electrochemistry. In addition to supporting the day-to-day operations of the project, the Research Assistant will help build strong research networks, contribute to securing research funding, and produce high-quality outputs including publications and potential patents. About You Evidence of experience in well-developed, hands-on laboratory synthesis of advanced two dimensional (2D) layered nanomaterials and their characterisation. Evidence of experience in manipulating materials for improving the performance of electrochemistry. Evidence of experience in manipulating materials for flexible or wearable energy application. Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs, which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, and competitive research funding. Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise higher degree by research candidates. Ability to build effective networks with colleagues resulting in collaborative outcomes. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
