About the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Unicas)
Basic information and contact details for the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Unicas)
The University of Cassino and Southern Lazio – known as Unicas – was preceded by the University Institute of Teacher Education, established by a local non-profit. This, along with the Faculty of Economic and Business, established in 1969, would eventually become Unicas in 1979.
The university is located under two hours from both Rome and Naples. The campus itself is in Cassino, a picturesque medium-sized town with nearby national parks and beaches.
Unicas offers 16 undergraduate degrees, spread across five departments: economics and law; electrical engineering and information technology; civil and mechanical engineering; humanities and philosophy; and human, social and health sciences. Nine degree courses are delivered in English.
Accommodation is arranged by DiSCo Lazio, which accommodates around 400 students, offering single and double rooms, as well as multi-bedroom apartments. Areas of the residences are equipped to accommodate students with specific sensory or motor needs. There is also a 65-bed residence in the historic centre of Cassino.
DiSCo offers subsidised meals – available for all students, not only those living in its residences – costing between €2.50 and €8.40.
The university organises cultural and sports programmes for its students. The campus gym offers fitness courses, as well as space for tennis, padel and five-a-side football. There are also agreements with external organisations to allow students’ access to a sports hall, a swimming pool and an athletics track.
