As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Future ship and system design (FSSD) program develop strategic and innovative design capabilities for maritime industry in Singapore and beyond. The work package WP2.4 in FSSD will conduct research in the areas of autonomous system dynamic modeling, simulation, testing, data and video analytics, machine learning algorithms and platform programing. The testing will be done both in lab, reservoir/sea and onboard ships. The primary responsibility of this role is to work on and deliver the project together with P2-4 team and be part of the research team in the FSSD program. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Carry out any additional work tasks assigned by the supervisor. To communicate with any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of system modeling, simulation testing for both hardware and software. Have a degree in engineering / applied physics, electrical, mechanical, marine, computer engineering or equivalent. Key Competencies Good knowledge in system modeling, programming, simulations, data analytics. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Show strong initiative and take ownership of work.

The Role and the Department This role sits within the Health and Safety Service, part of the University Secretary's Office, which provides advice, oversight and assurance to ensure activities across the University are carried out safely. The team supports a wide range of areas from Colleges and academic faculties to professional services and the wider student experience, working collaboratively to enable safe, effective operations across a diverse and complex environment. Within this, the Health & Safety Business Partner (Scientific) brings specialist expertise in chemical, ionising radiation and laser safety, acting as a trusted advisor and leading on these technical areas. The role is primarily focused on supporting higher-hazard activity, particularly within science-based departments, while also engaging with areas across the wider University where similar risks arise, including parts of the social sciences. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with departments to provide pragmatic advice on risk management, support complex research activities, and help drive continuous improvement through audit, training and incident learning.
