The University of California, Riverside, also called UCR for short, is a renowned public higher education institute in the United States, that is governed as part of the California’s public university system since 1959. The institution is nested on 1,900 acres of land in Riverside, Southern California.

Its creations stems from the attempt to address the growing needs of the local orange industry in the end of the 19th century. Formerly known as the University of California Citrus Experiment Station, the university pioneered pilot studies in fertilization, interrogation and crop development. Due to the rising demands of the local community and the growing desire for expertise evolution, the university expanded its size and opened new faculties over the course of 20th century.

Currently one of the most diverse universities in the US, UCR prides itself on offering over 100 programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level through 3 colleges and 5 graduates schools: the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering; the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences; the School of Business Administration; The School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Education, the School of Public Policy and the Anderson School of Management.

Students also have access to the vast collection of literature and resources in UCR libraries: The Tomás Rivera Library and Raymond L. Orbach Science Library, which preserve over 3 million paper volumes and half million electronic resources including one of the biggest science fiction and horror written works collections in the world.

With over 400 student organisations on campus, students are encouraged to participate in numerous regular events including concerts, exhibitions and comedy shows. UCR actively supports Afro-American and LGBT communities on campus via specially developed programs and initiatives.

UCR is the alma-mater of over 100,000 people, many of whom have become successful in their field. Some of the most prominent graduates and faculty members include the Noble Laureate in Chemistry Dr. Richard R. Schrock and the Pulitzer Prize Winner Steve Breen.

For this faculty position, we are looking for candidates with an engineering background, who have extensive experience in the area of digital supply chain. Essential Academic and/or industrial experience in design and managing digital supply chain solutioning and supply chain management. Having a background and interest in one or more fields of digital supply chain, including but not limited to digital supply chain transformation, digital manufacturing, E-procurement, E-commerce, E-logistics. Experience and knowledgeable in one or more areas of supply chain operations management, risk management and operations research, such as demand forecasting, inventory control, procurement, manufacturing, distribution, warehouse and transportation simulation, optimization and management. Motivated to develop and to teach curriculum in supply chain sustainability. Strong demonstration of interest to develop supply chain security, supply chain digital twin, and artificial intelligence solutions through applied research projects. Desirable Good knowledge in digital supply chain-related technologies such as AI, LLMs, Cyber Security, IoT, 3D printing, automation, supply chain security, digital twins, and block chains. Hands on experience in commercial digital supply chain solutioning projects with both hardware and software elements. Experience in digital supply chain related projects with strong integration of the three pillars, i.e., Digitalization, Resilience and Agility, and Green Supply Chain. Preferred to having a PhD in a related technical area. Led or involved in strong industry - academia partnership projects. The Role and the Department A newly created role within the University Finance Team, for a Senior FP&A Manager, responsible for the timely preparation of Budgets and Forecasts at a Consolidated level, covering Income and Expenditure, Balance Sheet and Cashflow Reporting. Prerequisites of the role include forecasting accuracy through robust processes which evaluate and appraise key management information and ensuring data integrity. This position is key to delivering Financial Insight through visual representation and supporting the Universities long term financial ambition of delivering self-serving stakeholder solutions. The role sits within the Financial, Planning and Reporting (FP&R) Team, reporting into the Head of FP&A and working alongside the Reporting Manager and Reporting Analyst, who will provide essential guidance and support to achieve set objectives. Critically, attention will be given to Balance Sheet and Cashflow scenario planning through sensitivity drivers to mitigate financial risk. Other duties will include the execution of improved financial processes, management of the FP&R Calendar and associated tasks with targeted deadlines, analytical solutions, standardising university wide financial templates and stakeholder engagement. This is a role that will realise financial creativity through enhanced financial insight to aid decision making. The Senior FP&A Manager is a collaborative role with touch points across all Finance disciplines; the role is challenging yet rewarding and an opportunity to create best in practice financial solutions. The University of Helsinki, Faculty of Humanities invites applications for the position of UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN JAPANESE STUDIES for a permanent appointment from 1 January 2027, or as agreed. The Faculty of Humanities carries out research and teaching on Japanese culture, history and society as well as the Japanese language. The successful candidate will be a Japanese studies scholar with broad-based expertise. They must have a proven track record in key areas of Japanese studies, such as contemporary society, politics, contemporary history and culture. The appointee’s research and teaching are expected to incorporate a transnational perspective, placing Japan in a wider regional and global context. The position is in the Department of Cultures. The appointee’s duties will include teaching in accordance with degree requirements at all levels of undergraduate and postgraduate study, as well as the supervision and examination of theses in Finnish, English and Swedish. Duties requiring strong collaboration skills include participating in the planning and development of teaching with other staff members in the department, degree programmes and disciplines. We also expect that the applicant will collaborate with teachers from other Faculty departments in developing teaching. Moreover, the university lecturer in Japanese studies will conduct research in Japanese studies and actively support developing the field in general. In addition, the appointee is expected to actively apply for external research funding and to participate in the department’s and faculty’s administrative tasks related to teaching, research, and societal impact. APPOINTMENT CRITERIA According to the University of Helsinki Regulations, an appointee to a university lectureship must hold an applicable doctoral degree and be capable of providing high-quality, research-based teaching and supervising theses. The assessment of applicant merits considers scholarly publications and other research outputs of scholarly value, teaching experience, pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning materials and other teaching merits. Demonstrable research and teaching experience in Japanese studies is expected. Pursuant to the Government Decree on Universities (770/2009), appointees to teaching and research positions at the University must be proficient in the language in which they provide instruction, i.e., Finnish or Swedish. The language of instruction in this position is Finnish. To successfully attend to the duties of the position, the appointee must also have satisfactory skills in Swedish and good skills in English and Japanese. Applicants from a different language background or who have not been educated in Finnish or Swedish may be exempted from the requirement for Swedish skills without a separate application. SALARY We offer the opportunity to work in an inspiring, international and multidisciplinary environment. The salary will be based on levels 6–7 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities.
