Position Summary:
The Department of Art and Design at Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in art history, beginning in fall 2025. The successful candidate will be the primary art history faculty member within a small, but thriving, department offering degrees in art history, studio art, and graphic design.Art history courses are an important component of all major and minor programs within the Department of Art and Design, as well as interdisciplinary minors in Museum Studies and Women's Studies. They also contribute to the university's Central Curriculum, particularly in the Artistic Expression and Writing Intensive areas, among others.The successful candidate will teach a 3/3 course load, including the two traditional world art history surveys, an additional variety of focused and topics-based art history classes (such as Contemporary Art History, Women in Art, Socially Engaged Art, Renaissance, and Modernism as examples), and potentially an annual section of the university's first-year seminar course. There is ample opportunity to teach within one's specialization and create new courses, however the successful candidate should expect to offer annual courses as needed by the department, drawn from the entire historical arc of the discipline. Susquehanna does not offer an Art Appreciation course. The successful candidate will also be expected to organize and lead a day trip to art galleries and museums in nearby urban centers once per academic year. Other responsibilities include university and departmental service, advising, recruiting, and program development.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or ABD in art history is required. A sustained research profile of distinction is expected.

Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience is preferred but may include graduate assistantships.

Position Summary:
The Department of History at Susquehanna University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Latin American History. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester, including Latin American surveys and upper-level courses in areas of their expertise. The successful candidate will exhibit active, student-centered teaching practices and promising scholarly potential. Institutional support for faculty scholarship, student research assistance, and conference travel is available. Susquehanna University is a partner institution of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and hosts an active Latinx Initiative.

Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Latin American history is required; ABD will be considered (degree completion required by August 2025).

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who specialize in race, diaspora, indigenous groups, sexuality and gender, or environmental impacts.

The Global Mobility Office is a student-facing and external-facing professional services team of eleven. This is an opportunity to join a small, close, centralised professional services team providing inbound and outbound study and work abroad lifecycle support and reporting, mobility partnership agreement negotiation and management, and administration of Erasmus, Turing and the Staff International Exchange Programme, in pursuance of the university’s Education and International strategies.

We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so. 

About The Role

The Global Mobility Officer (Increasing Opportunities) works with the Global Mobility Officer (Outgoing Student Support) and Global Mobility Senior Officer (Outgoing Students Co-ordinator) to facilitate King’s students spending a period abroad as part of their degree or as an extra-curricular opportunity. The role combines programme administration, student support and international relationship liaison. 

The Global Mobility Officer (Increasing Opportunities) has operational responsibility for a set of tasks and processes within the Global Mobility Office’s wider remit. They work within and across multiple teams at the university, engaging with a wide range of colleagues, and they contribute to activities which positively impact the student experience. This includes assisting with the planning, administration and delivery of outgoing study and work abroad opportunities; responding sensitively to student enquiries ensuring students experience consistent support pre-, during, and post-mobility; nominating and then supporting outgoing King’s students with their applications to partner universities and work placements, particularly those in Europe; troubleshooting and liaising as necessary with external organisations; and providing support for and contributing to widening outgoing mobility participation and funding administration as well as broader diversity and inclusion activities for under-represented cohorts.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About You

Postdoctoral researcher in HERG ion channel simulations: This project represents an exciting opportunity for an outstanding postdoctoral researcher (or PhD graduate) to investigate the molecular mechanisms of the cardiac HERG potassium ion channel.

The aim of this project is to describe inactivation and drug modulation mechanisms for HERG by employing advanced molecular dynamics methods. This is an NHMRC-funded project in collaboration with researchers at Victor Chang and the University of Chicago. The project will employ cutting-edge computational approaches using supercomputers, alongside structural and functional experiments, to examine HERG channel mechanisms.

The work is expected to be high impact, with related projects recently published in Nature and other top journals, and will provide excellent career possibilities for a talented and driven researcher.

To be successful in this position, the applicant must:


	Hold (or be about to complete) a PhD in physics, physical chemistry or a closely related discipline (see Qualifications section).
	Have a research background in computation in biophysics, condensed matter physics or physical chemistry.
	Have experience in atomistic simulations of membrane protein systems. A strong preference will be given to applicants with experience in simulations of ion channels, and in particular potassium channels.
	Have experience in statistical mechanical theory and molecular dynamics simulations for biophysical problems using existing packages. Strong preference will be given to those with experience in NAMD/VMD and CHARMM.
	Have a background in using enhanced sampling and free energy methods, such as Umbrella Sampling and Free Energy Perturbation, with expertise in replica methods, such as Replica Exchange with Solute Tempering and Metadynamics, and advanced analysis methods, such as Markov State Modelling, being desirable.
	Possess strong skills in supercomputing using both CPUs and GPUs, programming/scripting in a Unix environment, MD scripting for advanced simulations and analysis, as well as good visualisation skills.
	Demonstrate ability to work well with experimental collaborators to achieve high impact publications.
	Demonstrate experience in paper writing. Ability to independently form high quality paper drafts is essential.
	Demonstrate experience in conference presentation of research findings.
	Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills.
	Possess the ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues.
	Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.

What is Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise Board?

Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise Board (KEE Board) is a University committee under the accountability of the Vice-President (Research and Enterprise). Its core responsibilities are to oversee and champion the knowledge exchange, enterprise and innovation agenda across the University, to enhance the University’s strong enterprise ecosystem within a strategic framework. The board meet five times a year with an additional a strategic away day. The meetings are typically hybrid although at least one is held in person and are 2-3hrs duration plus preparation time.
