The successful applicant will participate in research involving human computation, knowledge discovery, machine learning, and data science. The position will provide the opportunity to develop applied research skills in machine learning, interact with an international network of collaborators, and gain post-doctoral research experience.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and can work independently, has a passion for AI and its applications, and is willing to learn new technologies. The candidate should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. Relevant background and skills include:

Description

The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) at NYU Abu Dhabi invites qualified applicants with a doctorate degree in the areas of electrical or computer engineering or computer science, or related fields to apply. A strong publication record is encouraged and previous experience in areas such as Neural network vulnerabilities and defenses, Anomaly detection, Adversarial machine learning, Computer vision, and Autonomous Robots is desired.

The successful applicant will work on various projects on robotics and computer vision, controls, and machine learning and their security. The work will include algorithm design, prototype implementation (e.g., in MATLAB/Python), deployment to robotics applications; onboard computational hardware using the Robot Operating System), and experimental testing (on unmanned vehicle swarms). A solid competency with the standard implementation tools used in machine learning and embedded systems (e.g., C, C++, Linux, PyTorch, TensorFlow, MATLAB, Python, Robot Operating System) is required.

The position is open to PhDs with backgrounds in AI, and/or computer vision and robotics/controls, and with less than 5 years of experience after receiving their PhD. The candidate is expected to work in a highly collaborative multi-disciplinary environment with other post-doctoral associates, PhD and undergraduate students, as well as faculty members (both in NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU New York). It is expected that applicants have a strong publication record in the aforementioned areas. The applicants are also expected to have strong analytical, communication, and writing skills.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join our team for a fixed-term project. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of food products within the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) framework, with a specific focus on Level 5 (Minced & Moist). This role will involve applying food structure understanding to formulate and optimise products with appropriate texture, appearance, and nutritional quality, while supporting laboratory trials, product evaluation, and data analysis to guide product refinement.

Key Responsibilities:


	Conduct literature reviews on food structure, texture-modified foods, ingredient functionality, and the IDDSI framework, with a focus on Level 5 (Minced & Moist) foods.
	Apply a strong understanding of food structure and structure–property relationships to design and develop elderly-friendly food products with appropriate texture, cohesiveness, moisture retention, appearance, and nutritional quality.
	Plan and conduct laboratory trials to evaluate product performance and support the translation of food structure knowledge into practical formulation strategies.
	Collect, analyse, and interpret experimental data to understand product behaviour and drive iterative product refinement.
	Document formulation rationale, experimental findings, and product development outcomes in technical reports, presentations, and research publications.
	Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including food scientists, clinicians, and engineers, to develop products that are scientifically grounded, practical, acceptable, and aligned with end-user needs.


Job Requirements:


	A Ph.D./Doctorate in Food Science, Food Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with experience in food structure, food materials, texture-modified foods, or a related research area. Only candidates with Ph.D./Doctorate qualification will be considered and possibly shortlisted for an interview.
	Strong understanding of food structure and structure–property relationships, and their application to food formulation and product development.
	Ability to evaluate how ingredient functionality, microstructure, and processing conditions influence product texture, stability, appearance, and eating quality.

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)

Description

The Smart Materials Lab (Panče Naumov Group) in the Division of Science and Mathematics, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a post-doctoral associate to work on crystal structure determination using electron or X-ray crystallography.

Candidates must have substantial experience in crystallography, specifically in the structure solution and refinement of small molecule crystals using either electron or X-ray diffraction techniques. While candidates with experience in structure analysis based on powder diffraction, neutron diffraction, or scattering data will also be considered, preference will be given to those with expertise in electron diffraction. Candidates should be capable of preparing samples, independently collecting data, and solving and refining crystal structures, including those that are theoretically and experimentally challenging, such as structures that exhibit twinning, disorder, or that change or decay over time. Proficiency in refining structures from electron diffraction data collected using a microscope or specialized equipment is preferred.

The position is for two years, with the possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement. The successful candidate is also expected to play an active role in other projects and activities within the Smart Materials Lab and assist in supervising undergraduate or PhD students.
