The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is seeking an exceptional Chief Research and Innovation Officer to lead one of Australia’s most dynamic and impactful health research portfolios. As such we are looking for a visionary leader to guide it. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the Executive Team, the Chief Research and Innovation Officer will shape and drive a long‑term research and innovation strategy that positions the RMH as a national and international leader. This role oversees a diverse, high‑performing research ecosystem, including laboratory and clinical programs, nursing and allied health research, and the Research Operations Centre. It also offers the unique opportunity for an academic appointment with the University of Melbourne, strengthening the RMH’s significant partnerships across the Parkville precinct. The successful candidate will bring an outstanding international research profile, a strong track record of securing competitive funding, and proven leadership experience within a complex health or research environment. They will champion excellence in clinical trials, research governance and translation, while fostering commercialisation, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking. A key element of this role is representing the RMH to government, universities, research institutes, philanthropic partners and global collaborators, positioning the organisation at the forefront of discovery and impact. Postdoctoral Fellow Position Announcement School of Public Health, Taipei Medical University (Lab of Dr. Wei-Cheng Lo) Job Title Postdoctoral Fellow Affiliation School of Public Health, College of Public Health, Taipei Medical University (TMU) Work Location 10F, Biomedical Technology Building, No.301, Yuantong Rd., Zhonghe Dist., New Taipei City (Shuang-Ho Campus, Taipei Medical University) Research Overview The lab is led by Associate Professor, Dr. Wei-Cheng Lo (Nicholas). Our research mainly focuses on Burden of Disease estimation in Taiwan, as well as the long-term health impacts of lifestyle and environmental exposures. Using disease burden metrics as an integrated analytical framework, we apply comparative risk assessment, disease modeling, machine learning, and survival extrapolation methods to systematically quantify the long-term impacts of diverse health risks on population health and societal burden. Our goal is to strengthen the evidence base for health policy planning and evaluation. In recent years, the laboratory has led multiple externally funded research projects supported by national funding agencies, including the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA), and the Health Promotion Administration (HPA). Key Responsibilities Conduct research projects funded by the NSTC and assist with additional assigned academic and administrative tasks. The laboratory maintains long-standing collaborations with the Taiwan Burden of Disease Center, the Institute of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at National Taiwan University (NTU), and the Institute of Statistical Science at Academia Sinica. The successful candidate will have opportunities to engage in cross-institutional research projects and participate in interdisciplinary academic discussions with collaborating scholars.   Working Hours Monday to Friday, standard 9-hour shift (including a 1-hour lunch break). Qualifications Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related medical/pharmaceutical fields. Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SAS, STATA, or Python. Experience analyzing large-scale databases (e.g., NHIRD, Biobank) is highly preferred. Strong interest and commitment to medical and public health research. Proactive, eager to learn, and able to work effectively in a team environment.   Salary and Benefits This postdoctoral research fellowship will be funded by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC). Salary will follow NSTC’s approved pay scale. Starting salary may be adjusted based on academic qualifications and experience; candidates with extensive relevant experience may negotiate salary.
