The Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali is located in Brunei Darussalam and can trace its roots back to the 1950s. In 2007, it was officially established as an Islamic institution of higher learning under the patronage of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei. It is the only Islamic university in the country, with a focus on integrating Islamic teachings into modern education. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various fields, including Arabic language and translation, science in Islamic finance, Islamic law and legal practice and business management among others. Many of the courses in management, finance and science are taught in English while other courses are taught in Arabic.

This position will be focused in the Infection, Immunity and Inflammation Theme, which brings together both basic science and clinician researchers, with the goal of generating the most comprehensive definition of key determinants that underpin pathogen driven and autoimmune diseases and host immunological responses to these conditions. Our research focuses on the interplay between the host immune system and a wide range of medically important human diseases. By understanding the mechanisms that enable the development of both infectious and non-infectious diseases, as we all as the inflammatory conditions that develop, we can provide a rational basis for the development of novel treatments, immunotherapies, vaccines and other preventative measures to lessen the impact of such diseases on the human population. Members of the Infection, Immunity and Inflammation theme teach students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level and bring their research experience to these teaching programs with the goal of fostering the development of the next generation of research leaders. Description The Social Science Experimental Laboratory (SSEL) at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Post-doctoral Researcher position. Description The Center for Brain and Health (CBH) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to support innovative clinical and translational research on brain health and disease in diverse populations within the UAE and wider MENA region. The successful applicant will play a central role in the day-to-day execution of human-subjects research studies, working within a multidisciplinary team of faculty investigators, research assistants, clinicians, and students. The position involves coordinating clinical and observational research protocols that integrate advanced neuroimaging, neuromonitoring, and behavioural methods, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, participant safety, and high-quality data collection. Key responsibilities include coordinating participant recruitment and workflow (pre-screening, informed consent, scheduling, and follow-up), maintaining regulatory and ethics documentation, liaising with clinical partners and imaging facilities, and overseeing clinical aspects of MRI, EEG, and MEG sessions. The Junior Research Scientist / Clinical Coordinator will also contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, support training of research assistants and students, track study progress and recruitment metrics, and assist with grant applications, ethics submissions, and progress reporting. The role works closely with dedicated neuroimaging and research assistants who focus on technical data acquisition, imaging pipelines, and analysis, while the Clinical Coordinator leads clinical governance and participant-facing workflows. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, nursing, or a related field; a Master’s degree or clinical qualification (e.g., nursing, allied health, clinical psychology) is strongly preferred. Candidates should have 2–3 years of experience coordinating human-subjects research or clinical trials, ideally in neurology, psychiatry, or related areas, and demonstrated familiarity with ethical and regulatory requirements for human research. Experience working with patient populations and/or in neuroimaging or neuromodulation environments (MRI, EEG, MEG, TMS) is highly advantageous. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic or other languages spoken in the UAE is an asset.
