Universiti Geomatika Malaysia was originally established in 2000 as a vocational centre, offering courses in land surveying. Noting a growing demand for such a specialisation, the centre submitted an application for college status and obtained the approval from the Ministry of Education.
The university is organised academically into five faculties: Faculty of Asia Built Environrment, Faculty of Bioeconomics, Food and Health Sciences, Faculty of Education and Social Science, Faculty of Meta Technology, and the Faculty of Hospitality and Lifestyle. All five faculties offer a diverse range of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
There is also the IQRA Business School, which offers various diploma, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, each designed to cater to the different interests and career aspirations of students, whether they seek to pursue research, work in the public sector, or join the private industry.
The university is actively involved in a variety of research and development initiatives, aimed at tackling real-world challenges in areas such as urban planning, environmental management, and disaster response.
The university is located in Kuala Lumpur, the capital and largest city of Malaysia. Defined by the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur is situated in the west-central Peninsular of the country.
