As Director, you will provide both scientific and executive leadership for the Institute and its CoRE mandate. You will shape long-term research direction, lead large-scale multi-partner programmes, and steward the successful renewal of the CoRE and the growth of government and industry investment. This role calls for a leader with the academic authority to unify disciplines, the credibility to influence funding and policy environments, and the confidence to represent the Institute on the global stage. Durham University is seeking to appoint to the post of Director of Health, Safety, Resilience and Security Risk to provide leadership, management, guidance, and support for all aspects of health, safety, business continuity and resilience, and security risk across the University. You will oversee the corporate strategy, objectives, arrangements, and infrastructure for the portfolio, as well as monitoring the levels of compliance, conformity, resilience, and implementation, while keeping the University Executive Committee (UEC) and other senior leaders informed of any issues, providing internal independent advice and guidance, across the University. Science and Technology Studies is a social science field with a strong interdisciplinary orientation that analyses the interactions of science, technology, and society. The department offers the English language master program 'Science, Technology, Society', as well as a number of course formats for other programs. The position is advertised to the extent of 30 hours/week (75%) for a period of four years. The anticipated start date is in October 2026. Your future tasks: The successful candidate will work on a PhD dissertation, participate in research activities of the group and department, and contribute to the organisation of the department and its teaching.
