As the first point of contact on behalf of the Dean, you will play a critical role in managing complex workflows, prioritising correspondence, and ensuring the timely resolution of enquiries and matters of significance. Leveraging your strong relationship management and communication skills, you will collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders across the University and external industry partners to support the School's strategic objectives and deliver service excellence. Acting as the primary point of contact on behalf of the Dean, this pivotal role sits at the very heart of the Business School, offering a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leadership. The role therefore requires an on-campus presence four days per week.Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide high level, confidential executive support to the Dean, including proactive diary management, coordination of meetings, travel, expenses, and preparation of briefings and correspondence act as the primary point of contact on behalf of the Dean, managing complex enquiries, priorities, and workflows with discretion, sound judgement, and professionalism support the effective operation of the Business School's leadership by coordinating governance and leadership activities, including meeting preparation, agendas, minutes, and follow up actions build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the University and external partners, while ensuring compliance with University policies and contributing to continuous improvement in administrative practices. About you You are an experienced and confident Executive Assistant who thrives in a fast paced, high trust environment and enjoys supporting senior leaders. You bring: Demonstrated experience providing high level executive assistance to senior leaders within complex or regulated organisations, with an understanding of governance and confidentiality proven capability across core executive support functions, including proactive diary and workflow management, travel coordination, and prioritisation of competing demands strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally, discreetly, and effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders a proactive, solutions focused approach, with sound judgement, initiative, and the flexibility to manage shifting priorities, ad hoc projects, and time critical matters. At Durham University the International Office is responsible for The recruitment of international students to all areas of the University to meet institutional targets Supporting and managing the developing of international partnerships to raise the University's global profile and to support academic colleagues in developing international links and collaborations Managing the university's student mobility programmes (Erasmus+ and other exchange partnerships) to meet the University's student mobility targets This role will support all aspects of the delivery of the University's Global Strategy, with particular responsibility for the achievement of international student recruitment targets, working closely with the Regional Manager. With support from their line manager and colleagues, the post holder will be able to develop their knowledge of Durham University and the wider international higher education sector, and acquire expertise in promoting a Russell Group institution. They will use their networking skills to assist the University's relationship management in market, to ensure we provide excellent service to school counsellors, education agents, and prospective students. The role will require a high volume of independent travel predominantly to a range of Asian markets, although market responsibilities may change over time in line with the external student recruitment landscape and the priorities of Durham University. The role will involve at minimum 12 weeks per year of travel, recruitment trips can be up to 2 weeks long and involve evening and weekend working. We have adopted hybrid working with team members currently working a minimum of 2 days per week on campus in Durham.
