SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION CONTINUING AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION DIVISION (CPED) The School of Continuing Education, one of the eight Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 500 part-time instructors. The School is now looking for individuals with qualifications and experience to join its Continuing and Professional Education Division. Lecturer I/II in Artificial Intelligence & Business Intelligence (24250169) AI for Business and Financial Markets Big Data and Business Analytics FinTech Strategy The appointee is required to (i) perform teaching duties in related disciplines; (ii) provide academic guidance to students; (iii) develop and manage programme; (iv) supervise projects; (v) coordinate with the part-time teaching staff; and (vi) assist in administrative work for the responsible programmes/courses such as promotion, admission interview, handling students’ enquiries and organising student activities. Job Description FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY With offers of BSc (Hons) in Biochemical and Testing Sciences, MSc in Analytical Chemistry, MPhil (by research), and PhD degrees, the Department presently has around 140 undergraduate students, 70 taught postgraduate students and 100 research students and project staff. It is now inviting applications for the position of: Research Assistant Professor (25260280) The appointee will work closely with an established research group in the Department to conduct high-quality research and showcase original and profound research accomplishments that have the potential to elevate them to international scientific leadership in chemical science. Job Purpose The Research Fellow will lead the development of a Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) biosensor platform for rapid detection of microbial bioburden in biopharmaceutical cleaning validation processes. The role involves aptamer discovery, nanomaterial-based SERS sensor development, and integration with microfluidic systems for real-time monitoring of cleaning validation washout fluids. Opportunities to contribute to patent filings, translational research, and commercialization pathways will be available. Key Responsibilities Technical Responsibilities Design and screen high-affinity ssDNA aptamers targeting environmental microorganisms listed in the US Pharmacopeia. Develop nanoparticle-based SERS substrates (Ag/Au nanoclusters) for enhanced Raman signal detection. Design and fabricate microfluidic sensing interfaces for continuous monitoring of cleaning validation fluids. Perform sensor validation using Raman spectroscopy, microbial cultures, and cleaning validation samples. The School is engaged in a wide range of research projects, provides Chinese medicine healthcare services to the community, and seeks to foster modernisation of the Chinese medicine profession.
