Université de Gabès was founded in 2003 but can trace its roots further back to the National Engineering School and the Faculty of Science. It is located in south-western Tunisia.
The university offers courses in computer media, arts, water science and technology, applied humanities, applied biology, industrial systems, languages, legal studies, applied science and technology, management, computer science and multimedia, and nursing sciences.
More than 20,000 students are spread across three campuses - downtown, Ibn al Khabbib in Gabes and the third to the south in Medinine.
Since 2021 it has been the sole Tunisian member of the nine-university SAFIR network supporting student social projects in North African countries. A participant in Tempus and Erasmus, the university has 30 international partners, including 12 in France, and Nottingham University in the UK.
