Founded in 1971, Claude Bernard is a university in Lyon focusing on science and technology, health and sport. It is named after the 19th century physiologist who developed the notion of blind testing in scientific experiments.
The city of Lyon is in central France and the third largest city in the country. The spectacular Festival of Lights occurs every December as residents place candles outside their homes, giving the city the nickname the Capital of Lights. Claude Bernard University is one of many higher learning institutions in the city, ensuring a high student population in the city and strong social atmosphere.
Claude Bernard can boast of around 4,000 internationally published articles and 40 patents every year. Since 2013 almost three hundred students and researchers fro Claude Bernard have been based at CIRI, the International Centre for Infectiology Research, exploring treatments and methods for prevention of the Ebola virus.
There is also an artistic side to campus life at Claude Bernard, and the Astrée Theatre on the site is host to both plays and scientific exhibitions. Students with a taste for physical activity will also be glad to know that Claude Bernard is host to the largest University Sports Association in France, with a devoted Sports and Physical Activity University Department.
As part of the Erasmus+ programme, Claude Bernard is linked with 34 nations across Europe, with more than 450 active agreements with 260 partner universities offering student exchange programmes. Outside of Europe, Claude Bernard is part of CREPUQ and the ORA, offering exchange programmes with universities in Quebec and Ontario respectively.
A number of degree programmes at Claude Bernard are taught in English. This includes an undergraduate course in Geosciences, and masters degrees in Chemistry and Nanoscale Engineering.

Full-Time | Fixed Term (12 months) Higher Education Officer Level 8 | $116,349 - $ 128,806 Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View Position Description About the Role Working with a vibrant team across all aspects of Information Security & Infrastructure, the Senior IDS Network Security Specialist provides senior operational support for the delivery of the University’s network security capability, with a particular focus on firewall policy lifecycle management (requests, change coordination, documentation, and continuous improvement) in close partnership with Information Security. You will act as a key liaison for technical teams and University stakeholders to ensure protection of the university’s digital environment, through consistent communication, advice, and timely delivery of agreed firewall and network security outcomes and work collaboratively with Information Security and all relevant IDS and University stakeholders to coordinate and deliver firewall and network security related change initiatives and activities. Key position responsibilities include: Coordinating firewall rule and policy changes across the University network, including intake, impact assessment coordination, approvals, scheduling, implementation, and verification in partnership with Information Security and relevant technical teams Identifying opportunities to improve firewall policy, process, and operations, and coordinating delivery of agreed enhancements with relevant teams. Providing expert advice and support to IDS and University stakeholders on network security matters, including participating in projects and initiatives to improve network security and resilience.
