Universite Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar, founded in 1957 as the University of Dakar, is one of West Africa’s oldest public universities. It traces its roots to Africa’s first medical school, started in 1918, and the French Institute of Black Africa, founded in 1936. Originally linked to the Universities of Paris and Bordeaux, it became fully independent in 1957 and was renamed in 1987 to honour the Senegalese historian and scientist Cheikh Anta Diop.

The university has six faculties: economics and management; letters and human sciences; science and technology; medicine, pharmacy and dentistry; legal and political sciences; and education and training. It offers many courses under the Licence, Master and Doctorate system introduced in 2003.

Its facilities include a university library, digital resources and online learning tools.

Job description: As a Senior Lecturer, you will work in the fields of ethics and applied ethics. Your field of work is the scientific teaching of the bachelor's and master's degree programs in philosophy as well as the teachers program in Ethics, as well as in the Master’s program in “Interdisciplinary Ethics.” In these areas, you will regularly teach courses on the basics of philosophical ethics, the history of ethics, as well in special fields of applied ethics. The 32-hour work week includes 11 semester hours (SWS) of academic teaching. The intention to raise working hours to a full-time position (40-hours and 14 semester hours) is much appreciated. Description of tasks: You independently teach 11 semester hours of courses at the bachelor's and master's level. You actively contribute to the (further) development of course and examination formats. We expect ongoing engagement with the current state of research, further training in teaching methodology, and the taking over of research tasks during semester breaks. In addition, administrative tasks, in particular in the administration of teaching, are part of the job profile. This is part of your profile: Completed doctorate/PhD in the field of Philosophical Ethics or Applied Ethics. Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution. Enthusiasm for passing on knowledge and for university teaching. Assisting with the organization and post-processing of collected raw data for use in ongoing projects within the context of the Study Participant Platform (SPP).
