Description We are inviting applications for a Post-doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Economics focusing on Macro, Labor and/or Development Economics. The appointment is for 2 years and will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and UAE visa acquisition by the prospective post-doctoral candidate. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professor Pauline Corblet and Professor Samreen Malik. The collaborative research will be on labor and education economics with a particular focus on structural models tied with labor market surveys to study the role of beliefs in the labor market in both developed and developing economies. We seek a candidate with expertise in both empirical and theoretical economics, with good coding skills. The role will involve designing surveys, working with existing datasets, and applying structural models relating to human capital development and labor markets. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. Description The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA) to engage in cutting-edge research on the physical layer design of next-generation wireless communication systems, with a primary focus on 6G technologies. The research will particularly emphasize spectrum candidates beyond the current 5G NR range, including FR3 (7–24 GHz) and the THz band (100 GHz and above). The PDA will be jointly supervised by Qurrat-Ul-Ain Nadeem, Marwa Chafii and Murat Uysal. Principal Responsibilities The PDA will conduct research on the design and development of next-generation wireless communication systems. Specific topics include, but are not limited to, waveform design for the THz spectrum under hardware constraints, beamforming techniques for FR3 and THz bands, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), and integrated sensing and communications (ISAC). The research methodology will involve the development of mathematical models for signal transmission and reception, derivation of fundamental performance limits, algorithmic-level system design, and performance evaluation through computer simulations and/or experimental validation. The PDA is expected to actively disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences. The PDA is expected to contribute to the intellectual property development through patent filings, as well as participating in standardization efforts relevant to wireless technologies, in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements include:  Strong background in communication theory, signal processing, and wireless communications  Proven track record of publications in relevant IEEE journals and conferences  Extensive experience in physical layer algorithm design and performance analysis In addition to the above qualifications, it is highly desirable that the candidate has prior research experience in one or more of the following research topics:  Waveform design for different RF bands (FR3, MMW, sub-THz/THz)  Analog/digital/hybrid beamforming Integrated sensing and communication  Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces  Hardware-constrained signal processing for wireless communications The candidates will be considered until the position is filled. This role will support Dr Julie Ayre, NHMRC Emerging Leader Research Fellow, whose research focuses on using digital technology to support health literacy initiatives and improve health equity in our health services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful public health communication projects exploring the use of AI tools - including chatbots and digital scribes - to support more equitable healthcare delivery. The projects use mixed methods including surveys, quantitative analysis, interviews/focus groups, and co-design workshops. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative and impactful research environment that informs healthcare policy and practice.
