Universitas Trisakti is a private university located in Jakarta, Indonesia, and is known as the only private university in Indonesia established by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. It was formally established in 1965 through a decree of the Minister of Higher Education and Science. Its name was personally chosen by President Soekarno to reflect national sovereignty, self-reliance and cultural identity.
With its main campus in Jakarta, Indonesia’s bustling capital, Universitas Trisakti has grown considerably from its original five faculties of law, economics, medicine, dentistry and engineering. It now comprises 10 faculties covering subject areas including law, economics and business, medicine, dentistry, civil engineering and planning, industrial technology, earth and energy technology, landscape architecture, environmental engineering, and art and design. The university offers more than 20 undergraduate programmes alongside master’s, diploma and doctoral courses.
In 2018, Universitas Trisakti adopted ‘One Stop Learning for Sustainable Development’ as the motto for its Three Pillars of Higher Education (TRIDHARMA), demonstrating its focus on environmental, social and governance issues. Its Centre for Entrepreneurship, Change, and Third Sector (CECT) also acts as a sustainability think tank, conducting research and activities focused on sustainable development and related issues.
