Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur (UPNVJT) as a research-based university with the character of national defense, is obliged to develop and apply science and technology. Hence, it requires UPNVJT to formulate an academic policy that contains a holistic approach in accordance with the vision, mission, and goals of the UPNVJT. The achievement of the vision and mission is supported by the presence of five strategic stages (milestones). The fifth stage (ultimate phase) is a phase of strengthening institutional capabilities that are research -oriented and have the character of national defense and are globally competitive to achieve World Class University. Regarding that, the UPNVJT has been conducting continuous improvement in Higher Education Tri Dharma (Tridharma PT) activities all of which are to conduct teaching, education, and research activities, as well as society empowerment. As per 2022, the institutional accreditation of the UPNVJT is “A” or equal to “Excellent”. Also, in terms of institutional accreditation for research and society empowerment, the UPNVJT also achieved the first-class level (accredited “Mandiri” for Research and “Unggul” for Society Empowerment) amongst other universities in Indonesia. Moreover, all study programs, including undergraduate and postgraduate programs have been accredited nationally and internationally (FIBAA and ASIIN). To ensure the quality of teaching, education, research, and society empowerment activities, the UPNVJT has been securing various grants from both public and private sectors. Internally, the research atmosphere is enhanced by providing internal fundings as well as the research centres equipped with high-throughput laboratory facilities and staff to support the activities of each research group. Those activities result in the achievement of first-class awards of Key Performance Indicators for Higher Education in Indonesia amongst other universities with the similar institutional management advancement level, especially for KPI related to the number of qualified graduates and internationally accredited study programs.

Description The Division of Science at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for tenured/tenure-track open-rank faculty positions within its Computer Science Program. The search will prioritize candidates who specialize in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), including but not limited to areas such as deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, reinforcement learning, ethical/trustworthy AI, and interdisciplinary applications of AI/ML in various domains. We welcome applicants working on fundamental advances in AI/ML as well as those applying AI/ML methods to advance other areas of computer science and related disciplines (e.g, software engineering, systems, security, human-computer interaction, robotics, databases, or related fields). The program seeks candidates who can contribute to our growing AI curriculum through foundational AI/ML courses as well as specialized courses exploring the interaction between AI/ML and other computing disciplines. Multidisciplinary research and exceptional teaching in a highly diverse and inclusive campus community are hallmarks of the University’s mission. Faculty within the Program of Computer Science at NYUAD are highly collaborative and pursue cutting-edge research that is very interdisciplinary. Their internationally renowned research projects are in fields that include, but are not limited to: artificial intelligence; big data; bioinformatics; computational sciences; cybersecurity; human-data interaction; information and communication technologies for development; machine learning, natural language processing; software engineering and program analysis, and theoretical computer science. There are many collaboration opportunities within the research centers, which include the Center for Cyber Security (CCS), the Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES), the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), the Center of Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI), the Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS), as well as with faculty in NYU New York’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Tandon School of Engineering. Available openings are at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor rank (tenured/tenure-track). Applicants should hold a PhD and demonstrate an outstanding track record for their career stage, in both research and teaching. This includes having publications in leading peer-reviewed journals or conferences, as well as experience in or the potential to lead research projects and secure research funding. Key Responsibilities Applied Research and Innovation Leads Research Fellows (RFs) and Research Engineers/Assistants (RE/RAs) in the end-to-end development and productisation of solutions, including experimental design and prototype validation. Lead and manage projects focused on product innovation, including, Artificial Intelligence, renewable energy, circular economy, sustainable materials, and carbon reduction technologies. Develop 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation using SolidWorks. Perform mechanical design analysis and engineering calculations, including load estimation, actuator sizing, structural integrity, tolerance analysis, and vibration/shock mitigation. Ensure mechanical designs are compatible with robotic arms, mobile platforms, sensors, and mechatronic systems, considering payload, reachability, safety, manufacturability, and maintainability. Build, assemble, and commission mechanical prototypes and experimental robotic systems. Conduct laboratory and field testing, analyse results, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements through iterative development. Source and evaluate commercial components, and work with vendors, fabricators, and contractors to support fabrication and assembly. Support field deployments and technology demonstrations with industry partners. Prepare technical reports, design documentation, test reports, risk assessments, and project deliverables. To liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, fabrication, and system integration. Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assembly design, and engineering documentation. Good understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis. Experience working with robotic systems, sensors, actuators, or mechatronic systems is advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to conduct laboratory and field testing when required.
