This role offers a rare opportunity to work across laboratory experimentation, scaled-up prototype testing, and field demonstration, partnering closely with industry to deliver contracted research outcomes that address real engineering challenges. Over the three-year appointment, you will build increasing research independence while strengthening your publication record, industry profile, and funding capability. About the Role As a Research Fellow (Level A), you will undertake high-quality research aligned with RMIT's research strategy, working with increasing autonomy as your skills and experience develop. You will collaborate closely with academic colleagues, industry partners, and higher degree researchers to deliver impactful, applied research outcomes. Your work will span advanced material characterisation, modelling, experimental validation, and field demonstration, contributing to publications, conference presentations, technical reports, and future funding proposals You may also contribute to limited undergraduate teaching and research supervision, supporting a collaborative and multidisciplinary research environment. About You You are a technically strong and collaborative researcher who enjoys translating fundamental research into applied outcomes with industry relevance. To be successful in this role, you will bring: Demonstrated ability to work in laboratory based experimental research and participate in scaled-up prototype testing and field demonstration with project team and industry partners. Demonstrated research track record in construction material modelling (mesoscopic/macroscopic), advanced material characterization using chemistry and microscopy techniques, and concrete durability. Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field. Ability to generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government. Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary, international collaborations. You will be responsible for policy, systems, and administration relating to the collection and debt management of student tuition and accommodation fees and payment of student scholarships, access and participation bursaries and hardship funds. Skills and experience required You will have a track record of successfully leading all aspects of a large finance function and experience of managing a team, including recruiting, developing, training, appraising and motivating staff. A thorough understanding and appreciation of relevant national and international developments, policies and benchmarks and a broad knowledge of current approaches to service-related work and of current debates, issues and challenges within the HE sector are essential. You will also have experience of dealing with highly confidential, sensitive information and an awareness of Data Protection legislation. You will have financial management skills, with experience of the preparation of reports (including statistical) for use in policy development and to inform senior decision making. The ability to understand and interpret complex regulations and the ability to meet agreed deadlines in a busy and complex environment are essential.
