It remains the largest public university in Angola.

Students must take an entrance examination.

There are seven faculties – natural science, social science, law, economics, engineering, humanities and medicine – along with the school of hotel management and tourism, and institutes of health, and of physical education and sport.

The university has a University Hospital.
