Universidade 11 de Novembro is named after Angola’s independence day in 1975.

Its main site is the Institute of the Science of Education. It offers general education training, along with courses related to the disciplines of biology, history, maths, English, Portuguese and psychology. There are also faculties of law, medicine, and economics which includes accountancy, economics and business administration. 

The Polytechnic Institute of Cabinda (ISPC) offers psychology, clinical analysis, nursing and forestry engineering while the Soio campus accommodates maths, technology and computer engineering.

Research centres include the Seed Research Laboratory.

Description We are inviting applications for a Post-doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Economics with fields of research in Macroeconomics or Computational Social Science. The appointment is for 2 years and will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and visa acquisition by the prospective postdoc candidate. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professors Alaïs Martin-Baillon, Jordan Norris, and Samreen Malik. The collaborative research will be on macroeconomic expectations, with a focus on firms and the role of networks. An ideal candidate may have experience with surveys and have expertise in computational economics. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. The Mittelstand forms the economic backbone not only of the German economy, but also of many other countries. The Institute will generate impact by supporting talent development, forming connections with Mittelstand companies, creating awareness of their specific needs, and increasing visibility of their strengths and economic potential. As a member of the Management Department at Frankfurt School, the Professor of Practice in Mittelstand Strategy will assume a leadership role within the Institute and will have the opportunity to shape and further develop its strategic direction. Your profile Ph.D. or equivalent academic qualification in business administration, economics, or a related discipline; Senior professional and leadership experience in industry, consulting, entrepreneurship, or executive education, particularly in areas relevant to Mittelstand companies; Demonstrated excellence in practice-oriented teaching, with the ability to translate real-world strategic challenges into impactful learning experiences for students and executives; Established reputation as a thought leader and trusted advisor in the fields of strategy, management, innovation and entrepreneurship, or leadership and governance; Strong network and strong relationships with industry partners, corporate leaders, family businesses, entrepreneurs, and professional associations; Evidence of practice-based scholarly engagement, such as applied research, case writing, policy contributions, white papers, participation in conferences, and publications in academic and practitioner outlets; Experience in collaborating with universities, research institutions, and corporate partners; Outstanding communication and presentation skills in German and English; International professional and academic exposure. We seek a candidate with expertise in both empirical and theoretical economics, with good coding skills. The role will involve designing surveys, working with existing datasets, and applying structural models relating to human capital development and labor markets. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation.
