About Universidad de Pamplona

Universidad de Pamplona is a Colombian public university located in the municipality of Pamplona. It was founded in 1960 and its main campus is located in Pamplona with other campuses in Villa del Rosario and Cúcuta.

The university is organised into three Vice-rectorates (academic, research, and administrative and financial) and two administrative directorates (social interaction and university welfare). Its highest governing body is the Higher University Council.

The university is known for its faculty of medicine, which is one of the two medical faculties in Norte de Santander affiliated with a public university. It has numerous research groups approved by Colciencias and offers a range of academic programmes, including undergraduate degrees, specialisations, master's degrees, and a doctorate.

These programmes span eight departments, arts and humanities, agricultural sciences, basic sciences, health sciences, economic and business sciences, education sciences, and jurisprudence and political sciences. The university has also implemented a "Doctoral Plan" to train its teachers through master's and doctoral programs, with a focus on international collaborations, particularly with universities in Spain.

The University of Pamplona has established inter-institutional agreements with universities in the United States, Spain, France, England, Germany, and China. These partnerships promote academic collaboration and exchange opportunities for students and faculty.

In addition to its academic pursuits, the university publishes nine scientific journals. The university has a well-equipped sports complex. Notably, it serves as a training venue for teams like Cúcuta Deportivo and Atlético Bucaramanga.

The university has invested in campus automation to enhance services and promote a sustainable environment. It aims to become a leading Smart Campus in the nation and the American continent by developing an intelligent computer platform and partnering with automation companies.
