The University of Antofagasta (UA) is a state research university located in the port city of Antofagasta in northern Chile. It is a member of the Chilean Traditional Universities organisation, and was established in 1981. However, the institution's heritage dates back to 1918, when the Salitre Industrial School was created to comply with skilled labour needs in Chile. This school, eventually renamed the School of Mines, later became a part of the Technical University of the State (UTE). 1957 saw the establishment of the North Zone University Centre, later to become the Regional Headquarters of the University of Chile. The University of Antofagasta was born out of a merger of these two institutions in 1981. UA has three campuses. The nerve centre of the university is at Coloso campus. This is where the bulk of academic activities are based, and it features areas of recreation, a library, sports facilities, auditoriums, research laboratories, an astronomy observatory, and various teaching spaces. Situated by the Leonardo Guzman Regional Hospital is the university's second campus - the Clinical Area. This is the home and operating quarters of the medical sciences department. Administrative duties are carried out at the Angamos Campus. The University of Antofagasta has eight main faculties: law; education; health sciences; basic sciences; engineering; medicine and dentistry; social sciences, arts and humanities; and marine sciences and biological resources. There is a strong commitment to productively improving the regional and national environment. The university's motto is "luz y vida en el desierto", which translates to English as "light and life in the desert". The development of technology and systems for efficient utilisation of natural resources in the region is one of the main aims of the work carried out at the university.

You will play a central role in reimagining a digital-first, online, on-demand postgraduate secondary teacher education program - one that is evidence-informed, student-centred, and aligned with evolving professional, regulatory, and workforce expectations. In this role, you will: Deliver high-quality, in person and online student-centred teaching across undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programs, fostering engagement and an outstanding student experience. Provide educational leadership within the discipline, including oversight of courses and programs to ensure continuous quality and alignment with strategic priorities. You will also have: Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, student-centred learning experiences across undergraduate and postgraduate programs including eligibility for teacher registration in Queensland. Proven ability to lead curriculum development and apply innovative, evidence-based and technology-enhanced teaching practices to improve student outcomes. The position combines independent research with editorial and management responsibilities for the journal Philosophy of AI, the diamond open-access journal of the Society for the Philosophy of AI (https://journals.ub.uni-koeln.de/index.php/phai). This is a 50/50 position. Half the time will be devoted to the appointee’s own philosophical research on AI. The other half will be devoted to editorial and management work for the journal, in collaboration with the journal’s editors in Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and Germany. Editorial and management responsibilities include coordinating the peer‑review process; communicating with authors and referees; assisting with special issues and symposia; maintaining the journal’s editorial workflow; and contributing to the journal’s strategic development. The appointee will work under the supervision of Professor Herman Cappelen (HKU) and in close coordination with the journal’s other editors, Guido Löhr (VU Amsterdam) and Vincent C. Müller (FAU Erlangen‑Nürnberg). On the research side, the appointee will pursue an independent research programme in the philosophy of AI and participate in the activities of the AI & Humanity Lab, including seminars, workshops, and lab events.
