About Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM)

The Universidad Catolica San Antonio is a private university located in Murcia in south-eastern Spain. The university was founded in 1996. There is also a campus in Cartagena.

It was founded by Jose Luiz Mendoza Perez, a lay Catholic with the permission of Bishop Javier Azagra Labiano of the Roman Catholic Disocese of Cartagena to set up the institution. The institution has maintained its firm commitment to the Catholic religion and its teachings.

The university offers the study of undergraduate degrees, master's programmes and PhD programmes in the arts and humanities, architecture, health, sports, communications and social studies, business and legal studies, nursing and engineering.

The Murcia campus is centred around the Monastery of Los Jeronimos, which was built in the 18th Century. It makes up the main administration building. There are a number of traditional buildings that still remain on the campus such as the Cloister, John Paul II Square, the Bell Tower, San Pedro's Church and the Chapel.

The university has also built a number of modern classrooms and workspaces, in a bid to merge the modern with the traditional. There is a dental clinic, psychology laboratory, genetic laboratory, pharmacy, TV and radio studios, dissecting rooms, sound studio, robotics room, and construction lab.

The university has connections with more than 200 universities worldwide to facilitate student and staff exchanges. The university also includes career preparation as part of the education programme and has maintained a network of businesses and industries to enable students to find employment after graduation.
