Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music

The Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music is a public higher education institution in Ukraine, located in the capital city of Kyiv. Its history dates back to November 1913, when it was established as the Kyiv Conservatory on the basis of the Music College of the Russian Musical Society. 

Founded with the support of leading composers and musicians, it quickly developed into a central institution for professional music education in the region. Over the course of the 20th Century, it evolved through periods of reorganisation and expansion, receiving national academy status in 1995.

The academy is situated in central Kyiv, within a historic building that was originally constructed in the late nineteenth century. Rebuilt after World War II, the complex includes major performance venues such as its concert halls.

Academically, the academy offers a comprehensive range of programmes in music, from undergraduate to doctoral level. These include studies in instrumental performance, vocal training, conducting, composition, musicology, and cultural studies. Its faculties and departments cover areas such as piano, orchestral instruments, vocal and choral performance, and music theory, with a strong emphasis on both artistic development and academic research.

Its teaching approach integrates rigorous classical training with contemporary artistic practices, supported by extensive performance opportunities.
