Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Communication Networks and Systems. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or other closely related fields and have a strong background in research and practice. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes.

Teaching Responsibilities

In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) program. The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduction is 8 academic hours per week, at least 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals 45 minutes).

Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, and comprises lectures on the following modules:


	Communications Engineering (45 AH)
	Communication Networks (45 AH)
	Mobile Communications (45 AH)
	Digital Routing (45 AH)
	IT Security (60 AH)


The named courses are subject to change on the realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. Courses may require conducting relevant laboratory activities and/or advising student projects.

The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses and mentoring Ph.D. students.

Research Responsibilities

As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in the fields of communication networks, wireless communications, Internet of Things (IoT), and 6G mobile systems. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable.

Administrative responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the ECE program by participating in administrative, marketing, and other public activities of the program in consultation with Academic Coordinator of the study program and German partner universities. He or she is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and the university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate, and/or other bodies.

Qualification

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. Other requirements include:


	An outstanding academic record with a focus on communications engineering, communication networks, mobile communications, computer networks, or other areas closely related to it;
	Knowledge in communication systems, network protocols, wireless networking, and network security.
	Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area
	Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research
	Experience in industry is of advantage
	Proven excellent English proficiency:


Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission. Alternatively, candidates who do not hold a valid English proficiency certificate at the submission time need to be internally assessed at VGU to meet the criterion stated above.[1]

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to lead the storm surge modelling in the Singapore Sea. As a specialist in wave modelling software, the successful candidate will work on cutting-edge projects related to coastal and ocean wave modelling using Delt3D software. The role of the researcher is to perform physics-based modeling to build a numerical model that can predict storm surges in Singapore coastlines based on different weather conditions. The researcher will also work with team members within the consortium in generating necessary data required for developing a machine learning model for storm surge prediction.

Key Responsibilities


	Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
	Undertake these responsibilities in the project:
	Delft3D and SWAN Modelling: Utilize Delft3D and SWAN software to develop and validate numerical models for wave propagation, storm surge modelling, and coastal dynamics.
	Building up of a database of sea level anomaly with extreme weather conditions: Utilize the developed numerical model to build a database of sea level anomaly with different weather conditions, which can be used to develop a data-driven model for storm surge prediction.
	Data Analysis: Process and analyze climate, ocean wave and coastal data to improve model accuracy.
	Research: Conduct research to enhance wave modelling techniques and contribute to the advancement of coastal engineering and oceanography.
	Impact Assessment: Evaluating the potential impacts of storm surges on coastal regions, including flood risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
	Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including hydrodynamic researchers, coastal engineers, and oceanographers.
	Reporting: Prepare research findings for publication in scientific journals and present results at conferences. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
	Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
	Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
	Assists in co-supervision of Final Year Projects (FYP) or capstone projects students together with the project PI.
	The employee is to communicate with any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met.
	Any adhoc duties assigned.


Requirements


	PhD or Master degree in a related field with a focus on coastal engineering, oceanography, or hydrodynamics.
	Proficiency in wave modeling software, particularly Delft3D and SWAN.
	Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
	Research experience in coastal and ocean waves is preferred.

The research group of Prof. Ingyin Zaw at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking to add a Research Scientist in Extragalactic Astronomy to study the impact Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) have on their host galaxies. Applicants with a background analyzing and interpreting astrophysical data, in particular the statistical analysis of data obtained by large surveys, are encouraged to apply. Research in the Prof. Zaw’s group focuses AGN activity and feedback which are critical components of current theories of galaxy evolution. Project include collaborations with researchers in Physics program and Center for Astrophysics and Space Science (CASS) at NYU Abu Dhabi, as well as researchers at the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics (CCPP) at NYU New York. Researchers are NYUAD have access to numerous high performance computing facilities, as well as access to sponsored time on several observing facilitates.

Responsibilities of the position include using advanced statistical and Machine Learning techniques to study AGN properties, galaxy properties, and the relationships between them in large samples of galaxies, as well as participating in other research activities of the group.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, in Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics or related field, and at least 6 years of research experience (Excluding the years taken to complete their PhD). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience analyzing and interpreting astrophysical data – especially that obtained from larger surveys, and strong computational skills. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and interest in using advanced statistical / machine learning techniques to study the correlation between variables.
