Tsuda University is a private women's university located in Kodaira and Sendagaya, Tokyo. It is one of the oldest higher education institutions for women in Japan. It was founded in 1900 and received its current name in 2017. The university is made up of two colleges; the college of liberal arts at Kodaira Campus, Tokyo and the college of policy studies at Sendagaya Campus, Tokyo. There are approximately 100 student groups and clubs including tennis, rafting, flower arranging, jazz band, and orchestra among others. The career centre offers one-to-one support in job applications, as well as job listings for international students and career fairs. There are also a range of internships available for students at private companies but also within government departments. The Centre for International Exchange (CIE) supports international students with academic requirements, national health insurance, scholarship applications and orientation. They also help students to find their campus accommodation.

Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs Job Requirements Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from a recognized university. Experience: A seasoned technical specialist with 10+ years of industry experience in software development lifecycles, with strong technical expertise and hands-on development experience. Programming Languages: C#, C/C++, Python, Java. Software Engineering Principles: Expertise in Object-Oriented Design, Microservices, and API Development. Cloud & DevOps Technologies: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Passion for supporting research and academic projects, with a track record of developing software solutions to address technical challenges. Extensive industry experience and knowledge to provide valuable industry perspectives in an academic setting. Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a keen interest in working closely with students in a learning environment. Committed to continuous learning and staying updated on industry advancements. Professional certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage. We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in Bacterial Evolution to join the UKRI FLF-funded research group of Dr Rachel Wheatley, based in the School of Biological Sciences at Queen's University Belfast. Species interactions are a fundamental comonent of bacterial infections. Yet, when, and how these interactions impact the response of a bacterial pathogen to antibiotics is currently not clear. The appointee for this position will: (1) conduct research into how microbial interactions impact antibiotic resistance in bacterial pathogens, and (2) assist in the general running of the research laboratory, with tasks such as lab ordering, autoclaving, and supporting team members with experiments. The successful candidate will be involved in conducting experiments to investigate how antibiotic resistance mutations impact bacterial virulence in a Galleria mellonella model, and experiments to investigate how antibiotic resistance evolves in microbial communities. They will support running of the research laboratory via tasks such as consumable ordering, lab meeting schedules, and supporting team members with experiments. About the person: The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria: Hold a Degree in a relevant area (e.g. biological sciences, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry). Specific, relevant and demonstratable research experience in experimental lab work. Experience in working with microorganisms. Experience of statistical analyses and appropriate software e.g. R and R Studio. Experience of working in a team. Research Fellow in Nanoelectronic Device Fabrication

We are looking to appoint a postdoctoral researcher with experience and expertise in nanoelectronic device fabrication, to be based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton as part of the group of Dr Ruomeng Huang (R.Huang@soton.ac.uk). This postdoctoral fellowship is part of the EXPRESS (Exploiting Single Source Precursors for the Electrochemical Growth of Functional 1D and 2D Metal Dichalcogenide Semiconductors) Programme Grant recently announced by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). EXPRESS is a large (£10M) flagship, interdisciplinary research programme over 5-years. It is led jointly by the Universities of Southampton and Warwick, alongside several international and industrial partners, and brings together internationally leading teams from across chemistry, physics and electronic engineering. It aims to deliver a step-change in the understanding and control of electrochemical growth of high-quality mono/few-layer functional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), combining precursor design and synthesis, electrochemistry, solution and surface computation, advanced characterisation and device integration. In addition to the essential disciplinary research skills, candidates should demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for collaborative working, the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines, and well-developed organisational skills. In this role, your primary focus will be the fabrication and optimisation of TMDC-based nanoelectronic devices, including transistors and memristive devices, using electrodeposited TMDC materials developed within the EXPRESS programme. You will design and implement fabrication process flows within a cleanroom environment, including thin film deposition, lithography, mask design and etching, and carry out device and materials characterisation using techniques such as SEM/EDX, XRD, Raman, XPS and electrical (I–V) measurements. The role will involve integration of novel materials into device architectures and development of reliable fabrication protocols. You will work in close collaboration with colleagues across the EXPRESS consortium, including materials synthesis, electrochemistry and theory teams. You will be required to be flexible and interact effectively with colleagues across the wider EXPRESS consortium to fulfil the scientific goals of the Programme. The position is offered for 24 months in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for up to 3 further years.
