Applications are now invited for the following posts: Part-time Lecturer Centre for English and Additional Languages (Post Ref.: 25/305) The Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL) offers a range of core and elective courses in addition to co-curricular language activities in order to enhance English language proficiency and critical thinking of students, as well as to provide language support to help students succeed in their academic studies. The Centre is looking for part-time Academic English Language Lecturers to teach Academic English language courses at the undergraduate level. Applicants should have: (i) experience in teaching English at the university level (preferably to students in Hong Kong); (ii) at least a master's degree in English Language and Literature or a relevant field (PhD preferred); (iii) an English language teaching certificate (preferred); (iv) preferred expertise and interests include: delivering a foundational core course that strengthens students’ English proficiency and the academic skills needed for success in an English-medium university; delivering a course that develops written synthesis of academic sources, critical evaluation of arguments, seminar discussion and debating skills, as well as creative and reflective practices essential at the tertiary level. Applications are now invited for the following post: Research Assistant Professor Department of Sociology and Social Policy (Post Ref.: 25/302) The Department of Sociology and Social Policy brings together scholars with international research experience and publication records in the major areas of Sociology and Social Policy. Over the years, our faculty members have been the recipients of the University’s Research Excellence Award and Teaching Excellence Award. The Department offers undergraduate teaching in Sociology, Social and Public Policy, and Health and Social Services Management, while hosting an MSocSc Programme in Comparative Social Policy (International) (IMCSP). We have been consistently successful in attracting MPhil and PhD students from around the world, particularly the recipients of the Hong Kong RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme, and obtaining the General Research Fund (GRF) and other external competitive grants. General Requirements Applicants should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree in Sociology, Social Policy or any discipline related to computational social science, or an equivalent qualification for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment, with relevant teaching and research experience. Excellent communication and presentation skills in English are essential. The appointee should be able to take up teaching duties in some of the courses on the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) Programme, including but not limited to: “Introduction to Social Data Sciences”, “The Social Impact of AI”, “Science and Technology”, “Consumption and Society”, and “The Making of Hong Kong”. The appointee should be prepared to actively support the coordination and development of our teaching programmes, as well as the research endeavours of faculty members in the areas of Sociology and Social Policy.
