Transport and Telecommunication Institute

The Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) is a modern university with almost 100 years of history. TSI is the successor to the legendary RKIIGA (Riga Red-Banner Civil Aviation Institute) and RAU (Riga Aviation Institute). Nowadays TSI is the only private technical college in Latvia, where you can get higher education in Russian, Latvian and English languages. The institute received permanent accreditation in Latvia as a higher education institution and provides academic programmes in the following: transport and logistics, computer sciences, electronics and telecommunication, economics and management, and aviation transport. TSI provides education at first and second level, bachelor’s and master’s degrees and doctoral degrees.

About this position:

As a university assistant pre-doc, you will join the Managerial Accounting research team led by Univ.-Prof. Thomas Pfeiffer. We conduct research using analytical methods in the areas of managerial accounting with a focus on contract theory, incentive systems, and corporate governance. The employee's research should qualify him/her for a doctorate as part of the international PhD program in Management. The program provides knowledge that enables you to apply analytical methods to business management issues. The programme is organized at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics of the University of Vienna.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
	You work on your dissertation and its completion.
	You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
	You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.


This is part of your personality:


	Completed Master's degree or Diploma in the fields of Economics, (Applied) Mathematics, or a related discipline (Statistics, Econometrics)
	Knowledge in analytical research methods, such as game theory, information economics, or microeconomics
	Excellent command of written and spoken German and English (C1 Level)
	Basic IT user skills are expected (e.g. Office)

The PostDoc will be part of the research group Microbial Biochemistry.

	Applying LC-MS analyses of microbial metabolites
	Synthesis of chemical standards and probes
	Investigating bacterial biotransformation products of human drugs
	Investigating effects of drugs on siderophore biosynthesis and degradation

This is part of your profile:


	A PhD degree in Chemistry, or a related field.
	Experience in LC-MS analytics, synthesis of molecular standards (e.g. quinolones, AHLs), quorum sensing pathways
	Preferably experience in working with metal chelators
	Experience in working with microbial cultures (preferably with biosafety level 2)
	Publications in peer-reviewd journals
	A proactive, curious, and independent thinker who is motivated to push the boundaries of knowledge.
	The ability to work effectively in a collaborative, international research environment.

The Department of History of Art at the University of Vienna is the largest center for research and education in the visual arts in Austria. It focuses on the visual arts in Europe, Asia, and the Islamic World. Currently there are 2000 students.

Your new job:

As a university assistant (pre doc), you will complement the team around Univ.-Prof. Lukas Nickel. Our research and teaching focusses on the art history of East Asia.
