Toyama Prefectural University, is a public university located in Imizu, Tokyo, Japan. It was initially founded in 1962 as the College of Technology and later gained university status in 1990. The university offers undergraduate and graduate courses focusing on engineering, ranging from mechanical systems engineering to environmental engineering and biotechnology. Toyama Prefectural University also offers courses in nursing and liberal arts, but has a strong reputation as a major engineering university. The university offers specialised programmes in biomedical engineering and has research collaborations with reputed academic institutions across the world. Some of these include Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (China), Bielefeld University (Germany), National Agronomical Institute of Tunisia (Tunisia), and the University of Alaska Fairbanks (the USA). The biotechnology centre and the university's environmental engineering initiative are some of the other amenities at Toyama Prefectural University.
