Description The Teaching and Learning Specialist advances teaching and learning at NYU Abu Dhabi by partnering with faculty, academic staff, and students to design, pilot, and scale evidence-based instructional and assessment practices. Working collaboratively with faculty as disciplinary experts, the Specialist supports innovation through targeted experimentation, evaluation, and refinement of teaching approaches that enhance student engagement and learning in a diverse, global context. Grounded in the mission of a global liberal arts institution, the role contributes to educational practices that cultivate critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and social responsibility, preparing students to navigate and address complex, evolving societal and global challenges. The Teaching and Learning Specialist reports to the Director of the Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning. The Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning (HBCTL) partners with faculty, academic staff, and collaborators across NYU Abu Dhabi to advance inclusive, innovative, and evidence-informed teaching that supports student learning, belonging, and success. Through support for faculty innovation in the classroom, interdisciplinary exchange, teaching communities, and the scholarship of teaching and learning, HBCTL fosters reflective teaching practice and advances pedagogical approaches that respond to evolving educational challenges and emerging technologies within a global liberal arts context. Key Responsibilities 1. Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Conduct and apply research on teaching and learning to inform instructional practices and institutional initiatives Translate evidence and data (e.g., student and faculty feedback, surveys, learning analytics metrics) into actionable insights and resources Contribute to the strategic development and dissemination of research-informed teaching practices within and beyond the institution 2. Faculty Partnership & Development Collaborate with faculty and academic staff as disciplinary experts to co-design courses, assignments, and assessments Contribute to faculty development initiatives, including New Faculty Orientation, structured discipline-specific program developed in collaboration with area-specific needs and peer observation programs Support faculty in adopting inclusive, evidence-based, and innovative teaching practices 3. Innovation in Teaching, Learning & AI Co-design and implement pilot projects to explore new approaches to teaching and assessment, including AI-integrated and AI-cognizant practices Support the development and implementation of AI-related guidelines, policies, and faculty support resources Support programs in developing AI-literacy components through integrated assignments Evaluate and scale effective innovations in alignment with institutional priorities 4. Student Partnership & Learning Ecosystem Engage students as partners in teaching and learning initiatives through collaboration with AI student liaisons, student government, and other student groups Design and support mechanisms for gathering student insight (e.g., surveys, focus groups, faculty-student groups, research) to inform instructional practices and institutional priorities Facilitate structured opportunities for faculty to incorporate student perspectives into course design, assessment, and AI-related practices Collaborate closely with relevant units (e.g., Center for Writing,, Academic Resource Center, Student Success) to align student academic support with course expectations and learning goals 5. Description The Kamei Reverse Bioengineering Laboratory within the Divisions of Science and Engineering at NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position that advances the frontiers of developmental biology and disease modeling. Schemes of Service: Research Division: Health and Social Sciences Employment Type: Temporary Job Purpose As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on industry innovation research where you will support all aspects of the project to investigate neuroplasticity and recovery of movement quality after stroke using multimodal functional brain imaging and 3D human kinematics. This funded research brings together multidisciplinary expertise from Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), National University of Singapore (NUS), National University Hospital (NUH), University of Glasgow (UOG), Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in the areas of Neuroscience, Psychology, Movement Science and Rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Prepare data collection forms/interview questions/questionnaire and recruit and/or interview subjects. Description The eBRAIN Lab (https://ebrain4everyone.com) in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position, to work in the area of research and development (R&D) of next-generation Edge-AI and Embodied-AI Systems with tiny-LLMs, tiny-VLMs, tiny-VLAs; Agentic-AI systems; and Robust Generative AI targeting hallucination, safety and security issues. Besides robustness, systems should also be optimized for high performance and energy-efficiency to realized efficient Embodied/Edge-AI implementations. A key focus will be on investigating novel methods with strong theoretical foundations as well as their full-system deployment in real-world applications from different fields (like autonomous systems, healthcare, and robotics) with cross-validation. Prof. Shafique’s lab has many-years of R&D experience in cross-layer design and optimization for building energy-efficient and robust brain-inspired, autonomous, and cognitive systems and intelligent vision systems, including efficient learning and inference of complex AI/ML algorithms, specialized neural processing hardware and design tools, and ML security, and their applications in resource-constrained Embodied-AI systems (like autonomous vehicles, UAVs/UGVs, Robotics, smart houses/cities, Wearables, and Healthcare). The long-term vision of the eBRAIN lab is on embedding an energy-efficient and secure electronic brain inside modern cyber-physical systems (CPS) and IoT-Edge devices to enable assistive cognitive technologies that care for / serve humanity and the ecosystem in a safe and green way. The successful applicants will join and drive a number of fascinating projects on designing, implementing, optimizing, prototyping and testing innovative solutions (software, hardware, or both) for the next-generation embodied-AI, GenAI and Agentic-AI systems, targeting high performance & energy-efficiency, robustness, and trustworthiness. A key focus will be on IP generation, patenting, high-quality publications in top-tier ML/AI, Robotics, and Systems conferences, and efficient prototyping for real-world use-cases. The candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, research engineers, graduate research students and undergraduate students, to investigate cutting-edge scientific methods and to develop full-system prototypes.
