The Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki is seeking a University Lecturer for a fixed-term position from January 1, 2027, to April 30, 2028, who can teach criminal law and procedural law. The responsibilities of the University Lecturer in Law include providing undergraduate education as well as supervising and examining theses in the Bachelor of Laws program and in one or more of the faculty's Master’s programs. The languages of instruction for the position are Finnish and English. The University Lecturer will conduct independent scientific research and manage jointly agreed administrative and other tasks. Teaching responsibilities also include instruction under the Open University brand. The place of employment for University Lecturers is Helsinki, but the position also involves teaching duties at the faculty's education unit in Vaasa. The role is teaching-oriented. Requirements for the Position and Evaluation of Qualifications Candidates must hold a relevant doctoral degree in accordance with the University of Helsinki's regulations and demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality research-based teaching and supervise theses. The University Lecturer must have good teaching skills. Pursuant to the Government Decree on Universities (770/2009), appointees to teaching and research positions at the University must be proficient in the language in which they provide instruction, i.e., Finnish or Swedish. Additionally, successful performance of the duties requires a good command of the English language. More information about language proficiency and demonstrating language skills can be found on the university's website. When assessing candidates' qualifications, both scientific and teaching merits will be considered. Scientific merits include scientific publications and other research results of scientific value. Teaching merits will take into account teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning materials, other achievements in teaching, and, if necessary, a teaching demonstration. The salary for the position is based on the university's salary system for teaching and research personnel, at levels 5-6 (-7). Additionally, a performance-based salary component will be paid. The gross salary for the position will be approximately €42,000–56,000 per year, depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. The position will be subject to a 6-month probationary period. Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong and a specialist qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, i.e. Fellowship of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology). Those with experience of having successfully developed and submitted research grants and worked effectively with major international partners and funding agencies; interacting effectively across multiple sectors; and establishing and managing studies involving colleagues from different disciplinary backgrounds may be favourably considered. The appointees will undertake teaching responsibilities, and organize and develop both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. They are expected to conduct high-quality scholarly research, provide clinical services and patient care at the University's teaching hospitals, and participate in services/administration at Departmental, Faculty and University levels. They are also expected to play a key role in leading the development of academic scholarship and teaching programmes of the Department. Clinical Research Fellow in Neuromodulation, Sleep, and Dementia

The role We are seeking an outstanding Clinical Research Training Fellow to help spearhead the development and clinical testing of a novel non-invasive brain stimulation sleep therapy for Alzheimer’s disease. The project is funded by the Medical Research Council and will be conducted at the UK Dementia Research Institute Centres at the University of Surrey and Imperial College London  The successful applicant will, together with other team members, be responsible for recruiting individuals with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease to the study and for administering non-invasive brain stimulation (phase-locked TI electric fields and audio), electroencephalography (EEG), and cognitive paradigms during wakefulness and sleep. The successful applicant will also work alongside other team members to examine patients’ responses by analysing EEG and behavioural data.  Candidates are expected to hold a medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) and be fully registered with the GMC, have experience working with patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia, and have knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures The successful applicant will be clinically mentored by Chris Butler (the project’s clinical lead) and will be an active member in Derk-Jan Dijk's (University of Surrey) and Nir Grossman's (Imperial College) research groups. You will be expected to collaborate closely with researchers across the groups at Imperial College London, the University of Surrey, King’s University, and with the broader worldwide network of collaborators.  About you Crucial skills include prior experience working with patients, particularly those with dementia or other cognitive disorders. Desirable skills include experience in assessing cognitive function using standardised and experimental tasks, conducting non-invasive brain stimulation and/or EEG recording procedures, and analysing EEG data.
