About Technical University of Moldova

The Technical University of Moldova was originally established in 1964 as the Polytechnic Institute. It is the only higher education institution for engineering in Moldova.

The university is located in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. Chisinau is the country’s largest transportation hub and a major industrial centre.

When the university was first established it had just five faculties: electrotechnics, mechanics, technology, constructions, and economics.

It has since expanded and today offers nine faculties: energetics and electrical engineering, mechanical, industrial engineering and transport, computers, information and microelectronics, electronics and telecommunications, food technology, textiles and polygraphy, constructions, geodesy and cadastre, urbanism and architecture, economic engineering and business. Each faculty offers a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.

There are various clubs, societies and organisations on offer for students to join such as the basketball team which competes in the Moldovan Super League.

The university is a member of the Francophone University Agency (AUF), an international association that is committed to the economic, social and cultural development of society. The agency represents a global network of universities and research centres from more than 100 countries that use the French language.

As a member of the AUF, the university has developed partnerships with other higher education institutions across the world in countries such as Canada, Belgium, France, Romania, Sweden and Ukraine.
