The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Building Physics. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Architecture with strong expertise in Building Climatology or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is of advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes.

Teaching Responsibilities

In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Architecture Program (ARC). The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduction is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes).

Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, and comprises lectures on the following modules:


	Building Climatology I
	Building Climatology II
	Studio Project I
	Elective I


The named courses are subject to change upon realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. Courses may requires conducting relevant laboratory activities and/or advising student projects. The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's theses in the Architecture field.

Research Responsibilities

As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in the fields of Building Physics in Architecture. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable.

Administrative responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the Architecture Program by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic selfadministration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies.

Qualification

Candidates must at least hold a Ph.D. in Architecture or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include:


	Must have an architectural design portfolio to show working experience in the field
	An outstanding academic record with a focus on Building Physics in Architecture or other areas closely related to it
	Experience in the industry is required
	Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area is an advantage
	Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research
	Experience in industry is of advantage
	Proven excellent English proficiency:


Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission. Alternatively, candidates who do not hold a valid English proficiency certificate at the submission time need to be internally assessed at VGU to meet the criterion stated above.[1]

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years initially, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of the second three-year fixed-term contract.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave, professional leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. A start-up package commensurate with the needs and experience of the appointee will be provided.

The Department of Network and Data Science invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the assistant professor level in the broadly defined areas of network science and computational social science.

The candidates should have strong motivation to conduct interdisciplinary research with socially relevant impact. Duties and Responsibilities 

Candidates should be able to:


	Teach data science methodology courses and elective courses applied in social contexts at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
	Produce high-quality academic research in the field of network science and computational social science.
	Supervise theses at both undergraduate and graduate levels and PhD students in the Network Science PhD program.


The standard teaching load at CEU is comparable to that of research universities, 12 US credits per academic year, in addition to thesis supervision.

Qualifications

We seek applications with a background in any of the fields of network science, quantitative fields of social sciences, social data science, computer science or natural sciences, with an excellent publication record, international experience and visibility, and research interest in network science and computational social science.

Your personal sphere of influence

University of Vienna is offering a PhD position (University Assistant, Praedoc) at the Department of Statistics and Operations Research. The position is intended to support a young researcher in their doctoral studies. The position (30 hours/week) is based on a 3-year contract with the option of extending for a further year.

About the role

This is a key role within the Research Support Team of the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences. The post holder will be responsible to the School Research Manager, as part of the team ensuring that high quality financial data and research management is provided to the School.

The successful candidate will provide high quality support for the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, with an emphasis on research grant management and reporting. The post holder will be highly numerate and able to interpret as well as communicate figures to a wide range of audiences. They should be proficient in Excel and PowerBi and will be expected to provide monthly grant reports to Principal Investigators.


	Developing and producing finance reports for grants and discretionary accounts, inputting financial data on income and expenditure 
	Developing an understanding of the platforms used in the University (primarily KFin and Worktribe, PeopleXD and Pure)
	Building and improving reporting templates taking into account of data availability and quality, user needs, data access control, and other relevant factors
	Support all aspects of post award activity from project queries to closing awards.
	To collate and review research grant reports and send to PIs. Attention is required to consider, projects nearing their end dates with large over/underspends and to highlight these to the PI, School Finance/Research teams, School Manager, and Post Award.
	To assist the School Research and Finance Managers in the review of grant ‘health checks’, ensuring that the expenditure charged is eligible, and grant expenditure is in line with forecasted expenditure.
	To review the ineligible spend report and assess that the expenditure is in line with the funders’ rules. Any ineligible expenditure is to be highlighted and addressed to the PI, School Research and Finance Managers, and Post Award.
	Ensure compliance with the College’s financial regulations and funder policies.


This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. You will be expected to work on site at least 3 days per week.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

	Experience in grant costing and award management for research (Pre and Post-Award) using specific software e.g. Worktribe or Oracle based software
	Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and observing systems and processes
	Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills at all levels with the ability to translate complex information; financial or the terms and conditions of funding bodies
	Solutions and quality-focused, with strong planning and analytical skills, able to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervision
	Commitment to good practice and following process/procedure 
	Good knowledge of MS Office including Word Processing, Excel, PowerPoint, Power Bi, and use of email/internet


Desirable criteria


	Experience of working in the higher education sector and/or a medical/clinical environment with a detailed knowledge of the regulatory, policy, and procedural context along with the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector
	Experience in financial planning and implementation, including preparing budgets, financial profiling, monitoring key performance indicators, budgets, and risks
	Evidence of an active commitment to career development with the application of learning to the work context
	An understanding of research-intensive Higher Education institution activity, context, and processes
