The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) began life in 1868 as an agricultural school in Saidapet, Chennai, in India’s Tamil Nadu. It was then moved to Coimbatore in 1906 and was the lead provider of agricultural education and research, as well as supporting the State Agricultural Department through the delivery of research packages. Until 1946, the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore was the only one of its kind in Southern India. In 1958, it gained the status as a postgraduate centre for master's and doctoral degrees and merged with the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai (established in 1965). The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University was established in its current form in 1971. A third agricultural college was added in Killikulam in 1984 and a fourth was set up at Kumulur in 1989. The university has 15 constituent colleges and eight affiliated colleges. Affiliated colleges offer only undergraduate studies. Students can choose to study from 13 undergraduate degree programmes, 40 graduate degree programmes and 26 doctoral degree programmes. As well as the above, TNAU offers the opportunity study at its Directorate of Open and Distance Learning. Established in 2005, this centre was a first among agricultural state universities and its aim is to teach technical knowledge on technologies in agriculture and agro-based industries to those who cannot attend campus-based education. TNAU also has 36 research centres for the development of agro technology and 14 farm science centres for outreach. Coimbatore, also known as Kovai is a major city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It has a population of 1,601,400 and is located on the banks of the Noyyal River. After Chennai, it is the second largest city in the state and the 16th largest urban Indian agglomeration.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof Stephen Gould and Dr Dylan Campbell to develop novel techniques for designing constrained 3D shapes, such as airfoils, using a framework of differentiable optimisation. The project involved collaboration with researchers at EPFL, Switzerland and may involve travel to meet with the research team there. It is expected that research leads to high impact outcomes including publications in top-tier venues and open-source software. Successful candidates will also work along side PhD students working on related problems in computer vision and machine learning, and contribute to their development. The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is pleased to announce the opening for up to two full-time academic positions (Teaching and Research stream) in Veterinary Anesthesiology. For candidates with an interest in research, UCVM has enviable access and existing collaborations with the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Depending on qualifications and career track expectations, the appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The successful candidate will be appointed in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2026, or a mutually agreed upon date. The positions require a DVM (or equivalent). Board certification (DACVAA and/or Dipl. ECVAA) is preferred, but board-eligible ACVAA or ECVAA residency-trained candidates, or a candidate holding a PhD in veterinary anesthesiology, will be considered. An additional graduate degree is considered an asset. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor normally requires evidence or promise of original high-quality research and scholarship and future development as a scholar. Evidence or promise of the ability to obtain funding may also be required where appropriate. Evidence or promise of teaching proficiency or professional activity may also be required. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires evidence of an established academic program of a caliber equivalent to national recognition by peers. It is expected that a record of high-quality research and scholarship suitable to the discipline or field has been achieved. Evidence of ability to obtain funding to sustain a research program is required. A satisfactory record of and active involvement in university, professional or community service is expected. UCVM employs a Distributed Veterinary Teaching Hospital model. Clinical time may be assigned in clinics in the community. Can we measure gravitational effects on entangled photons for shining light onto the interface of quantum physics and gravity? Can we scale-up multiphoton platforms by using integrated optics, quantum-dot single-photon sources and customized two-dimensional nonlinear materials? Your personal field of activity: The research group “Quantum Information Science and Quantum Computation”, led by Univ.- Prof. Dr. Philip Walther, is part of the Quantum Optics, Quantum Nanophysics & Quantum Information group at the Faculty of Physics and member of the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (VCQ) – one of the largest quantum hubs in Europe – and the Austrian Cluster of Excellence quanta. The group’s research combines the development of scalable photonic quantum technology for quantum computing and other quantum information applications with the investigation of fundamental quantum science questions. The main activities reach from quantum control of single photons using solid-state photon sources, integrated waveguide technology, tailored nonlinear media and detectors based on superconductor technology to interferometric precision measurements of weak gravitational forces. For our further reinforcement we are looking for a Senior Scientist that supports in particular the research on optical quantum interferometry in weak gravitational fields. The position is currently limited to 1 year with the possibility of subsequent unlimited employment.  Your future tasks: Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means: You develop and strengthen an independent research profile. You are involved in research projects/research studies. You publish internationally and give presentations. You are responsible for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding.
