Quality Assurance and Enhancement Office oversees the processes by which the University monitors, evaluates, reviews, and enhances the quality of its teaching, learning, research and service delivery. The Office offers an integrated service assisting staff in a range of activities related to both quality assurance and quality improvement. It facilitates departments, schools, institutes, centres, offices and units in the development of their quality assurance procedures and practices, and supports those undertaking Quality Review.

We are seeking a Senior Quality Officer, to assist the Director of Quality in the delivery of the functions of the Office. The role will require external engagement with agencies such as Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), as well as working with the University’s Quality Committee and other Offices in the University. The tasks undertaken will be varied but the focus will be on policy and process development, in light of changing external contexts, for both quality assurance and enhancement. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Salary:

Administrative Officer I (2026): €60,410 – € 86,192 p.a. (9 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

(1) Teaching & Learning


	Undertake teaching and teaching related duties such as design, preparation and development of teaching materials; conduct classes/lectures, tutorials and practicals; consultation with students, invigilation, marking and assessment 
	Participate and contribute in high quality programme and curriculum development 
	Plan and implement teaching strategies to optimise student learning as well as to motivate them 
	Support in research project work and scholarship of postgraduate students 
	Establish and maintain high standards of teaching and effective learning to meet the 
	University’s teaching and learning expectations 


(2) Research


	Participate in scholarly activities, including undertaking research, conference presentation, journal publications and relevant community work 
	Support efforts to secure grants for research activities and scholarship as co-researcher 
	Achieve the specified set of research outcome targets for Professor / Associate 
	Professor level of appointment 


(3) Administration and Other Activities


	Undertake and contribute in administrative responsibilities such as attending departmental meetings, participate in committees and working groups within the 
	Department, School and Faculty 
	Participate in continuous relevant professional activities 
	Assist in establishing linkages with external organisations/ professional bodies in academic related matters 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR PROFESSOR


	Possess a PhD in Media and Communication (Advertising, Brand Management, 
	Film, Journalism, or any related field) with at least eight (8) years of academic/industry experience. 
	Proven leadership experience in academia or professional practice. 
	Skilled in innovative teaching methodologies and use of technology in learning.  
	Strong research track record: 
	
		h-index of more than ten (10) (preferred)
		Main Supervisor for more than three (3) PhD graduates
		More than ten (10) publications in Q1 and Q2 journals (ISI, SCOPUS,Clarivate) in the last five (5) years
		Secured more than RM150k to RM200k in research grants as main PI
	
	


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR


	Possess a PhD in Media and Communication (Advertising, Brand Management, 
	Film, Journalism, or any related field) with at least five (5) years of academic/industry experience. 
	Proven leadership experience in academia or professional practice. 
	Skilled in innovative teaching methodologies and use of technology in learning.  
	Strong research track record:

The Astrophotonics Program brings together researchers from astronomy, physics and engineering to design, build and test advanced photonic technologies with applications in radio astronomy, optical astronomy, space science, quantum technologies and national security. The group is internationally recognised for its expertise in the long-distance transfer of stabilised photonic timing and communication signals over optical fibre and free-space laser links.

About you 


	A PhD in physics, astronomy, engineering or another relevant discipline, with an internationally recognised research profile and an outstanding publication record in leading peer-reviewed journals.
	Proven success in attracting competitive research funding and developing sustainable research collaborations across academia, government and industry.
	Significant experience leading research teams and supervising higher degree research (HDR) students and early-career researchers to successful outcomes.
	Expertise in several of the following areas: radio astronomy instrumentation, free-space optical laser communications (terrestrial and/or space applications), and quantum technologies.
	Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, collaboration and research excellence.

	Exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Midwife to support the conduct of clinical research activities in the Heat and Health Research Centre

About the opportunity

The Clinical Research Midwife supports the clinical trial process, from planning to execution, ensuring a seamless transition through all stages.  The midwife will support the HEaT inform study being conducted in the climate chamber at The University of Sydney and investigating pregnant women's physiological responses to different temperature conditions. They handle data capture, verification, and overall adherence to standards while fostering relationships with research staff and stakeholders. They ensure Good Clinical Practice and that every aspect of the trial meets the highest ethical and scientific standards.  Provide clinical care within scope of registration and professional practice, where required as part of the study protocol, including responding to medical events or emergencies during study activities.

Reporting to Professor Adrienne Gordon, your key responsibilities will be to:


	support the end-to-end clinical trial process, assisting with the planning, initiation, and execution of trials, and ensuring smooth operations
	provide clinical care within scope of registration and professional practice, as required under the study protocol
	capture data and verification for clinical trials, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulations, in accordance with ethics guidelines and workplace health and safety regulations, preparing materials for committee submissions
	build productive relationships with research staff, trial sponsors, and external vendors, facilitating effective communication and collaboration
	uphold the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in all clinical trials, ensuring that ethical and scientific quality standards are met in design, conduct, recording, and reporting
	support stakeholder communications, ensuring that concerns are addressed effectively and timely while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within the work area and beyond
	facilitate timely report submission, uphold data integrity according to university systems, and partner with managers to advance compliance initiatives
	use critical thinking and problem solving to analyse midwifery practice to provide safe, appropriate and responsive quality support to research trial participants. Respond effectively to emergency situations and the change status of patients as required
	champion a proactive approach to health and safety, review and provide feedback on work area protocols, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent safety standards across tasks and projects.


About you

We are seeking an exceptional Clinical Research Midwife, who possesses:


	tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience in midwifery practice
	current Registered Midwife with APHRA with post graduate midwifery experience.
	previous experience in research with a focus on management of clinical studies/trials
	demonstrated commitment to professional development
	an understanding of issues related to adverse obstetric outcomes: particularly in relation to fetal growth restriction, pre-eclampsia, preterm delivery and stillbirth
	experience with antenatal patient interaction
	demonstrated understanding and experience in complying with Good Clinical Practice, regulatory, ethical, privacy and other relevant guidelines.
	demonstrated experience working across multidisciplinary teams and ability to build effective relations with colleagues and stakeholders
	excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
	possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day to day operational matters
	experience using RedCap software for data capture
	understanding of research ethics and relevant aspects of Work Health and Safety Policy.
