We are seeking a Senior Lecturer to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation while continuing to build their research contribution, expertise, and impact within their discipline. This position will be focused on individuals with a background in gastrointestinal or respiratory physiology, and broader aspects of human physiology from both a research and teaching perspective. The role involves applying your learnings through research and scholarly activity to inform your education and research practice and contributing to the strategic and academic goals of the school or faculty. About you Doctorate or PhD and professional qualifications in physiology (or equivalent) significant experience in teaching and learning, with a focus on the areas of gastrointestinal physiology and/or respiratory physiology (or a closely-related area), with a demonstrated capacity to teach and drive curriculum development of these topics for undergraduate and postgraduate programs experience in education design and practice significant experience conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity relevant to their field, including success in securing research funding experience supervising and mentoring others, including Honours and/or PhD students have, or be building, an established network of academic, industry and/or professional partners and stakeholders have a national reputation as influential in expanding knowledge, pedagogical innovation, or curriculum development skills in research, critical thinking and decision making, planning and organisation, and delivering presentations effectively ability to communicate effectively to a diverse cohort of students and staff excellent collegiality across teaching and research. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry.
