As a University Assistant Praedoc, you will join the research team led by Prof. Susanne Schwab (Chair of School Pedagogy with a special focus on social, linguistic, and cultural diversity). The department deals with questions of school participation, inclusion and equal opportunities. We investigate how education systems, schools and teaching create conditions that can promote or limit the learning, well-being and development of children and young people. In doing so, we look at individual development processes as well as institutional and structural factors that shape educational paths. Our research is multi-perspective and interdisciplinary. It combines pedagogical, psychological and sociological approaches and examines education in all its complexity. About the Role We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Exoplanet Science to join the new Macquarie Astrostatistics group. You will be working with A/Prof Benjamin Pope and A/Prof Christian Schwab on a full-time, fixed term period for 3 years. This role will develop and apply new machine-learning based approaches for extremely precise radial velocity studies and exoplanet spectroscopy with the NEID, HPF, and MARVEL facilities, and pursue related exoplanet and stellar science. Research Fellow in Astronautics

We are seeking a talented and motivated Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary team developing a scalable high-power inductively coupled plasma torch for assessing atmospheric re-entry emissions and environmental impact. This project will develop a high-enthalpy inductively coupled plasma torch system to simulate the extreme thermal environments of spacecraft atmospheric re-entry, enabling advanced testing of thermal protection materials and emissions characterisation to support the design of cleaner deorbiting systems. You will work under the supervision of Prof. Minkwan Kim, collaborating with an industry partner and the UK Space Agency. Key responsibilities include: Developing a second-stage plasma accelerator based on magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) principles. Optimising ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) torch design for high enthalpy thermal plasma flow. Developing/Validating computational models for a dual stage plasma torch. You should hold a PhD (or equivalent experience) in Plasma physics, Aerodynamics, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering. Essential criteria include experience in numerical modelling of plasma flows and discharge, with desirable expertise in plasma diagnostics and RF plasma. Strong communication and writing skills are required. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of plasma technology and space sustainability.
