Position Summary The Dean, Teaching and Learning is a senior academic leadership role responsible for shaping the academic culture, educational quality, and student experience at VU Delhi NCR during a significant phase of institutional growth. The role provides strategic leadership across learning and teaching, curriculum development, academic governance, quality assurance, student success, and regulatory compliance. The Dean will play a critical role in localising and implementing the VU Block Model® within the Indian higher education environment while maintaining alignment with Victoria University’s global academic standards. Working collaboratively with Melbourne-based academic teams and local campus leadership, the Dean will build and lead a high-performing academic environment that promotes innovation, excellence, and student-centred learning. Key Responsibilities Provide academic leadership to position VU Delhi NCR as a preferred destination for students, staff, industry, and community stakeholders Support strategic growth initiatives aligned with Victoria University’s vision and operational plans Identify opportunities to strengthen and extend the VU Block Model® through innovative and personalised learning approaches Represent the academic portfolio in external partnerships, industry engagement, and delegated institutional activities Lead the development and delivery of high-quality educational programs and learning experiences Collaborate with VU Melbourne Course Teams on curriculum design, review, enhancement, and accreditation requirements Ensure curriculum delivery remains current, locally relevant, and aligned with industry and professional expectations Strengthen academic-industry engagement to enhance graduate employability and student outcomes Oversee annual course monitoring and contribute to formal course review and evaluation processes Promote innovation and scholarship in learning and teaching practices Student Experience Champion student engagement, success, retention, and progression through the VU Block Model® Lead initiatives to improve graduate employability and employer engagement outcomes Foster inclusive academic practices supporting a diverse and international student community Oversee academic integrity, student misconduct, complaints, appeals, and discipline processes in accordance with University and UGC requirements People and Culture Build and lead a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing academic culture Recruit, orient, mentor, and manage locally engaged academic staff and visiting academics from VU Melbourne Lead mentoring, staff capability development, and performance management initiatives Support academic capability development in assessment design, teaching quality, and block-mode delivery Collaborate with operational teams on academic workload planning, timetabling, and delivery efficiency Quality Assurance and Compliance Ensure effective management and continuous improvement of academic quality assurance systems and governance processes Maintain compliance with Australian and Indian higher education regulatory frameworks, including: TEQSA Higher Education Standards Framework AQF UGC FHEI Regulations 2023 Lead academic preparation for quality audits, UGC inspections, and accreditation activities Liaise with professional accreditation bodies, including ACS for IT-related programs Support institutional governance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives Social, Environmental and Financial Responsibility Promote sustainable and ethical operational practices aligned with VU’s commitment to Protecting Country and sustainability goals Ensure effective incident reporting, risk management, and operational accountability Support responsible financial stewardship and effective resource management Lead Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) compliance and operational planning across academic activities Key Challenges and Scope The Dean will lead decisions impacting teaching quality, curriculum delivery, student outcomes, and academic operations at VU Delhi NCR. Key challenges include: Building sustainable student enrolment growth while maintaining high academic quality and integrity Successfully adapting and embedding the VU Block Model® within the Indian educational context Managing multidisciplinary academic teams across Commerce, Management, IT, and Technology disciplines Navigating dual regulatory environments across Australian and Indian higher education systems Building strong academic leadership capability while maintaining a cohesive campus culture The role operates under delegated authority from the Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic (India) and within University policies, procedures, and relevant legislative frameworks. Qualifications and Selection Criteria PhD qualification (or equivalent) with recognised academic standing in one or more disciplines relevant to programs offered at VU Delhi NCR Significant senior academic leadership experience with responsibility for teaching quality, curriculum delivery, and staff management Strong understanding of higher education governance, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance frameworks in Australia and/or India Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary academic teams and develop productive stakeholder relationships Demonstrated capacity to foster a values-based culture of collaboration, ethical conduct, and participation Experience leading organisational change and operating within complex regulatory environments Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) principles and operational risk management Strong commitment to VU Values: Always Welcoming Always Ethical Always Sharing the Future Always Together Experience working with higher education institutions in India or familiarity with Indian higher education regulations (UGC, AICTE, etc.) Familiarity with the VU Block Model® or comparable intensive teaching models Experience leading academic delivery in a transnational or offshore campus setting Professional recognition or accreditation relevant to offered discipline areas Established professional and industry networks within Gurugram / NCR Application Process Applicants must submit: Resume / Curriculum Vitae (CV) Cover Letter Details of Academic Leadership Experience and Discipline Expertise  In case you face any issues while uploading your documents, please email your application and documents at careers@daskalos.com
