The State University of Trade and Economics was first established in 1946, as the Kyiv branch of a larger Soviet-era institution.

Over the years, the institution has evolved into a fully-fledged university in its own right, with a number of different teaching and social facilities. The university is mainly based on a large campus east of the Dnieper River in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Kyiv is a historic city, one of largest and most important in Europe, and for centuries has acted as a bridge between eastern and western Europe.

The primary focus of the State University of Trade and Economics is economics and business, with large schools having been developed in both these disciplines. However, the university also offers schools in other related subjects, such as law and management, and many of these offer both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

The university has an arts and culture centre, which is utilised by amateur theatre groups, a chamber choir and dance groups. It also houses a recording studio for contemporary music groups. 

In 2015, the institution founded the Center of European Education, which trains French-speaking specialists in management and enterprise fields. Students here study the French language intensively in their first and second years, with most lectures and seminars held in French by faculty from the University of Auvergne Clermont.

The State University of Trade and Economics has also produced a number of famous alumni within Ukraine, including politicians such as Ukrainian prime minister Arseniy Yatsneyuk and diplomat Mikhailo Reznik.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry funded research project where you will be part of the research team to develop advanced Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance (NQR) scanning technologies. Job Responsibilities Participate in research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Conduct comprehensive literature review on NQR technology, including design approaches, scanning methods, signal processing techniques, and comparison with alternative detection technologies. ii. Support design and development of NQR prototype, including system architecture, component selection, and experimental setup. iii. Conduct lab and site tests to evaluate the performance of NQR prototype. iv. Generate design documents and test documents at every stage of development until the final prototype. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.  Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Has a bachelor’s degree in Electronics; Specialization in RF/Microwave or Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is preferred. Has solid knowledge of electronics, including circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware troubleshooting. Has relevant competence in the areas of Radio Frequency design and measurement; Familiarity with high-power amplifier systems is a plus. Has relevant experience in the areas of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) design and implementation is a plus. Experience in electromagnetic simulation using CST Studio Suite and circuit simulation with PSpice, LTspice, or equivalent is an advantage. Experience with developing software for instrument control and data acquisition using LabVIEW is helpful. Key Competencies Strong experimental skills and theoretical knowledge in electronic circuits, and RF or DSP design, with the ability to apply hands-on prototyping and system development. Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university. The Role and the Department Senior Project Manager (Research Professional Futures) The Senior Project Manager (Research Professional Futures) will lead and coordinate the delivery of the Research Professional Futures (RPF) project, funded by the Research England Development Fund (£4.5m). The postholder will manage all aspects of the project from inception to completion, ensuring delivery of strategic objectives. This includes oversight of resources, budget, people, and partnerships. Responsibilities will include; Lead the operational delivery of the RPF project, including development and implementation of the project initiation document and delivery plan, ensuring alignment with the project outcomes, delivery of milestones, risks and mitigations and funder expectations. Manage project governance, including coordination of the Commission, governance bodies, and reporting structures. Manage delivery of work packages including research, pilot interventions, competency framework development, and digital platform implementation. Provide robust financial management, procuring services and goods in line with financial regulations, liaising with post award finance to manage any budget variance and reporting to the project board and funding body. Monitor project progress against KPIs and milestones, prepare reports for funders and senior stakeholders, and manage risk and compliance. Coordinate the onboarding of project staff and contributors. Lead management of the commissioning of pilot projects, including application processes, evaluation, and reporting. Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies, working closely with the Community Engagement Manager and Commission members to ensure inclusive participation across RP and academic communities. Support the integration of AI tools and approaches across project activities, liaising with consultants and technical partners to ensure ethical and effective use. Provide day to day line management for the assistant administrator, setting clear objectives and reviewing performance, supporting development through the Personal Development and Performance Review (PDPR) process. Represent the project internally and externally, acting as a key point of contact for partners, funders, and sector bodies. Manage internal and external communications, working closely with the collective leadership team, Commission membership, and external communications and marketing agencies Support event logistics and delivery, with content led by the Community Engagement Manager. Represent the project at sector events and conferences and participate in relevant external professional networks and sector bodies The post will support the wider RPF team, across different institutions, and will be based in Research and Innovation Services at Durham University. Research and Innovation Services (RIS) provides guidance, expert advice and hands-on support for all aspects of research and research-related work, including securing funding, working with partners, undertaking knowledge exchange, demonstrating impact, commercialising outputs, ensuring good research practice and supporting professional development. The base location for this role is Boldon House, our exciting new professional services hub. Boldon House is situated on the outskirts of Durham near the Arnison Centre in Pity Me. Boldon House brings a number of professional services teams together in a vibrant office environment which supports collaborative working and is designed to embrace hybrid working. There will be requirements at times to travel within the UK to attend meetings with the project leadership and delivery teams, and for wider sessions such National Commission meetings. Senior Research Fellow in E-Textiles and Printed Electronics

We seek high calibre highly motivated post-doctoral researchers to join our electronic textiles research program. The positions are funded by the EU (European Union) project: SoftIE – Materials for Sustainable Soft Technologies of Interconnected E-textiles, tackling a fundamental challenge; the lack of a robust connection and interconnects. You will be based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) and be part of an EU project consortia developing new materials and processes to achieve sustainable interconnected e-textile systems. You will work in the Printed Electronics and Materials Laboratory and other facilities. Comprehensive training and support will be provided by experienced users, enabling you to develop the skills necessary for the role. Prior experience with the equipment is not essential. You will be invited to travel to project meetings and dissemination activities across the UK and EU. The role will also involve supporting junior research staff and contributing to the planning and delivery of group outreach activities. Reasonable adjustments will be made to support candidates for whom travel may present challenges. You will help lead a work package within the project and develop routes to commercialisation for the work as well as strategies for intellectual property protection and exploitation. The roles will involve research on the following topics. Novel printed copper ink formulations and other conductive materials. Novel sustainable adhesive materials. E-Textile device manufacturing, focusing on improving durability and reliability.  Design and assembly of E-Textile demonstrators.  To be successful with your application, you will need to demonstrate:  A PhD in an appropriate area related to one or more of the roles described above.
