About the Role

Swinburne University of Technology is seeking an exceptional academic leader to join us as an Associate Dean, Innovation and Engagement (I&E). This is a unique opportunity to be a key member of the School Executive team and provide senior academic leadership to activate Swinburne’s entrepreneurial ecosystem across teaching, research, innovation and engagement.

As the Associate Dean I&E, you will be responsible for embedding enterprise capability and industry collaboration across the School and in turn, the Academic portfolio through learner-powered industry innovation and experience, including the systematic integration of Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) within curriculum design, delivery models, and assessment. This ensures that industry engagement, WIL, and innovation are coherently designed and delivered as part of the learning experience, resulting in high-quality industry-connected education, future-ready graduates, and demonstrable impact.

As a member of the School’s senior leadership team, you will lead enterprise-driven learning and innovation initiatives across domestic and global contexts. This includes engaging and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver learner powered industry innovation, strategy, and working in collaboration with other Associate Deans to integrate industry-connected curriculum and pedagogy, enabling innovation outcomes and industry-linked learning models, and advancing the commercialisation of research, industry-focused educational products, and student and staff ventures to create impact at scale and support sustainable growth. 

This position stewards entrepreneurship, commercialisation and industry-connected innovation across all sectors and cohorts, positioning Swinburne as a global leader in entrepreneurial education, industry-engaged learning, and commercial impact. You will champion innovation and engagement in the School in support of the University’s strategic plan - Ad Astra, and play a major role in activating School academics to participate and lead I&E activities.

*The appointment as Associate Dean is for a fixed term of two years and attracts a 10% salary loading for the duration of the appointment. This appointment is underpinned by an ongoing, substantive Associate Professor (open discipline within the School) position at level D.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:


	Demonstrated experience providing senior academic leadership in a complex tertiary education environment, with evidence of shaping strategy, influencing decision-making, and delivering sustained organisational outcomes.
	Proven ability to lead or significantly contribute to enterprise-driven learning, industry engagement, Work Integrated Learning (WIL), or applied education initiatives that improve student employability and external engagement.
	Demonstrated experience identifying, structuring, and progressing industry engagement and commercialisation opportunities in an education and/or research context, including shaping value propositions, aligning academic capability to industry need, navigating governance and approval processes, and contributing to revenue-generating or impact-driven outcomes.
	Demonstrated understanding of the commercial dimensions of education, research, and industry engagement, with experience contributing to decisions that balance academic quality, student and research outcomes, and financial sustainability.
	Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships, lead through influence, and align academic, professional and external stakeholders in complex, matrixed or dual-accountability environments.
	Exposure to innovation precincts, start-ups, short courses, micro-credentials, professional learning, and/or commercialisation initiatives in an education or relevant industry context.

	A doctoral qualification or equivalent standing, demonstrated through senior leadership experience and substantial contribution to education and professional practice relevant to the role.

Qualifications

As part of its strategic development, FBA is conducting a global recruitment of Associate/Assistant Professor in Business Intelligence and Analytics (Information Systems). Position Overview

The position is funded by contract research between the ANU Defence Institute and the Australian Army Research Centre, based in the School of Demography within the Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS). We are seeking a highly capable and self-motivated Research Fellow to work on the project entitled ‘Small-area attitude mapping’ which involves the compilation of Australia attitudinal survey information, small-area modelling of demographic characteristics, and application of scenario modelling. This project aims to understand more about social attitudes across Australia.

The Research Fellow will compile data, conduct the analysis, and provide geographical visualisation of indicators. This research will be conducted within the Population Lab project lead by Professors Edith Gray and James Raymer. Our core aim is to have a better understanding of Australian demographic processes.

The Person

The research fellow is expected to work within the School of Demography at ANU and will be directly supervised by Professor Gray. The research fellow will be guided by a contracted research program, engage in data compilation, analysis and visualisation, and support the presentation of project activities, including through the project report and mapping of social attitudes. Please note, the successful applicant should have, or be eligible to secure, Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.

The Research Fellow / Research Engineer (with focus on Data Analytics and Digital Dashboards) will support applied research and innovation in community and allied health by turning clinical, operational and service data into practical analytics outputs, digital dashboards, KPI trackers and evidence reports. Key Responsibilities

Applied Research & Development


	Perform clinical needs assessment and workflow analysis for organisational innovation transition, focusing on but not limited to the community and aged care sector, including nursing homes, hospitals, home-based care, and palliative care settings.
	Develop healthcare solutions and innovation roadmaps for organisational transition, focusing on but not limited to long-term bedridden patient care, caregiver workload reduction, and care automation.
	Develop and execute healthcare innovation projects by conducting experiments, data collection, and analysis for Proof of Concept (POC) and implementation for organisations in, but not limited to, the community care sector, and simulated environments within SIT and / or the Living Lab.


Industry Collaboration

Project Execution & Support


	Assist Professional Officers, faculty and project leads in planning, coordinating and executing assigned project workstreams, including timeline tracking, documentation and follow-up on deliverables linked to the committed KPI areas: service volume, innovation initiatives, value capture, manpower training and ecosystem establishment.
	Generate technical reports, presentations, dashboards, project trackers, and documentation on the development, validation, deployment, and value capture of healthcare solutions and applications.

Job Requirements


	Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience OR Master's degree with 2+ years experience in Nursing, Health Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Research, or a related field or related disciplines with relevant experience in research, engineering, product development, or healthcare innovation related work.
	Strong knowledge and experience in clinical workflows, particularly in hospitals, nursing homes, home-based care, palliative care settings and other community care settings.
	Hands-on experience in clinical validation studies, including patient needs assessment and usability testing, is highly advantageous.
	Possess understanding of healthcare innovation concepts (e.g., commercialisation, care automation, health economics).

	For this Data Analytics and Digital Dashboards role, relevant experience in data analytics, dashboard development, business intelligence, data visualisation, health/service data management, KPI tracking, data cleaning, statistical or operational reporting, or equivalent analytics tools and methods is required.
	All Research Fellow / Research Engineer must possess project-management skills and experience managing or coordinating projects/workstreams with good outcomes delivered, including scope, timeline, stakeholder coordination, risk/issue tracking and documentation.
