Applications are now invited for the following post: Associate Professor of Teaching / Assistant Professor of Teaching / Senior Lecturer School of Graduate Studies (Post Ref.: 25/30) The School of Graduate Studies (GS) is established for strengthening the central support for postgraduate programmes as well as the monitoring of their quality in alignment with the University’s strategic direction of expanding and providing quality postgraduate education. The GS is expanding its scope of research and knowledge transfer programmes in promoting multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research and development projects related to Policy Studies and Management, Health Studies, International Higher Education, Policy and Management and Urban and Housing Studies. The GS is searching for staff who can support research, teaching and knowledge transfer activities in the following areas: Education Management Internationalisation and Quality Management in Higher Education International Higher Education Public Management and Administration Public and Social Policy Research Methods The appointees will be mainly responsible for (a) engaging in teaching and learning activities; (b) supporting academic programme coordination and management; (c) organizing research events (e.g., conferences and seminars) and knowledge transfer activities; and (d) contributing to other administrative matters as assigned by the supervisors. General Requirements Associate Professor of Teaching Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in the related discipline; (ii) at least five years of relevant experience in teaching; and (iii) track record in academic programme development and/or management. Assistant Professor of Teaching Applicants should have (i) relevant postgraduate qualifications in the related discipline; and (ii) substantial relevant work experience in programme co-ordination and teaching, preferably at postgraduate level. Senior Lecturer Applicants should have (i) relevant postgraduate qualifications in the related discipline; (ii) substantial relevant experience (normally not less than 8 years), and (iii) experience in course development. For all of the above posts, applicants should have strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and presentation skills. Preference will be given to candidates with strong track records in teaching and programme management in the above-mentioned areas. Evidence of contributions to the scholarship of teaching, in the form of teaching-related grants, publications and conference presentations, will be viewed positively. We are now looking for a Doctoral Researcher in Transport Studies The doctoral researcher will be embedded in the Spatial Planning and Transportation (SPT) research group and contribute to the CO-SPACES research project funded by the Research Council of Finland. The aim of CO-SPACES is to assess the benefits and burdens created by current and possible future urban street space distribution in Finnish cities, with a focus on both the aggregate societal impacts and equity implications affecting different groups of people, as well as on how to integrate this assessment into existing local governance processes. The PhD project should focus on the last part, especially around the questions of governance – by both understanding the diverse actors’ views and assumptions and working with them to reimagine governance processes. Your experience and ambitions We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with strong analytical skills and a clear interest in urban transport systems and their governance. The successful applicant should enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary research environment and be willing to engage with both mixed-methodological and applied research questions. Applicants should hold a master’s degree in transport studies, urban planning, policy studies, sociology, or any governance related field relevant for the PhD. Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. Knowledge of Finnish is not required. The successful applicant should be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a research team. Previous knowledge of and experience in the field of transport planning and street design will be considered an advantage.
