The Policy and Engagement Advisor joins the First Nations Economic Empowerment Alliance (FNEEA) Secretariat, contributing to policy development, stakeholder engagement and delivery of a national reform agenda supporting economic self-determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Together, the First Nations Economic Empowerment Alliance and the Centre for Indigenous Economic Transformation (CIET) form an Indigenous-led collaboration for transformative economic policy to inform and strengthen the First Nations Economic Partnership. CIET brings research excellence, policy analysis and systems-level insight to turn evidence into practical policy options and capability building. The Alliance brings the authority, experience and networks of First Nations-led organisations, statutory authorities and experts grounded in community realities and rights-based approaches to economic self-determination. The Position The Policy and Engagement Advisor contributes to the Alliance’s policy and partnerships agenda by translating research into actionable policy outcomes and coordinating engagement with First Nations organisations, government, industry and philanthropy. You will lead and contribute to policy development, prepare high-quality briefs and reports, coordinate consultations and engagement activities, and support delivery of policy initiatives and projects. The role works closely with CIET researchers and Alliance partners to ensure policy work is evidence-based, culturally grounded and aligned to national priorities. We’re seeking a highly capable policy professional with experience in policy development, stakeholder engagement and project delivery in complex environments. You will bring strong analytical and communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholders, including First Nations organisations. Experience in government, research, or policy environments will be highly regarded. The ViDSS aims for the highest standards in doctoral training and close supervision to ensure a mastery of social scientific debates and relevant theories and methods. About this position: With the ViDSS Short-term Finishing Contracts, the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences supports doctoral candidates in the final phase of their doctoral studies. Six 5-month positions as University assistants (prae doc) are offered for student members of the ViDSS who have successfully passed the public presentation at the Faculty, concluded the doctoral thesis agreement and, since then, submitted progress reports on a regular basis (at least annually). Applicants should have an excellent study record (duration of studies, grades) and provide evidence of relevant academic achievements (conference presentations, publications, etc.). The doctoral thesis should be completed and submitted at the end of the employment. At the time of the application, approximately half of the doctoral thesis should be finalised. If candidates conduct an empirical doctoral thesis project, data collection must be completed upon submission of an application for the position. The appointee is expected to apply for external funding to conduct cutting-edge research, contribute to undergraduate and graduate program delivery, supervise student projects, dissertations, and placements at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to the work of the Academy and Faculty as deemed appropriate.  The University is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities, including the Multi-Omics, Genetics, and Biomolecular Laboratories; the Biomechanics and Performance Laboratory; and the Environmental and Hypoxic Chamber. Applicants should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: sports physiology, sports performance and genetics, sports technology, sports and AI, and sports medicine.  Requirements: Applicants should possess a relevant doctoral degree, and a strong track record of research, and publication in high impact international refereed journals. Having solid experience in course teaching, research student supervision, programme administration/development, and academic administration is also an asset. Applicants applying for Associate Professor and above should be able to demonstrate extensive experience and success in competitive grant applications and outstanding research publication records. The Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor role is a tenure-track position with initial appointment on a fixed-term contract of three years commencing January or August/September 2027. Tenured appointment is expected to be attained within six years. An outstanding appointee may also be considered for tenured appointment. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
