Let’s shape the future together!  Your personal sphere of play: The Department of Food Chemistry and Toxicology at the Faculty of Chemistry is seeking a senior scientist to lead and manage projects in exposome research. This position in the field of bioanalytical chemistry is dedicated to the development of innovative mass spectrometry-based workflows and data evaluation tools. The developed methods will be applied to address pressing research questions at the edge of environmental/food contaminants and human health. You may work in the framework of large-scale EU projects and are expected to collaborate with national, European, and international partners. In addition to research, this position includes teaching in accordance with the collective agreement, administrative tasks and supervising students. The position is initially limited to 4 years with the option of subsequent permanent employment. Your future tasks: Specifically, you will be involved in research, teaching, and administration. This means: You will develop new analytical or bioinformatic workflows for exposomics You will execute administrative tasks in lab and infrastructure management, research, and teaching. You will contribute to research projects and scientific studies. You will publish internationally and give presentations. You will apply for projects and acquire third-party funding. You may develop new courses for students at the MSc and PhD level You may participate in managing renovations and the automation of labs for high-throughput You will independently teach courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement. You will supervise students throughout their academic progress. You will participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance. This is part of your personality: Completed doctoral/PhD degree in food, analytical, biological, or computational chemistry, biotechnology, or related fields Experience in mass spectrometry and scientific publishing Hands-on experience with the operation and management of low and high-resolution mass spectrometry instruments Experience in managing large EU projects Experience in managing laboratory renovations Research competence and initiative demonstrated through international publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals Experience in research management and in leading project staff Professional interaction with clients from academic, scientific, and industrial environments Didactic skills and the willingness to develop new academic courses independently IT skills (e.g., programming skills in R, experience with the usage of OS from mass spectrometer manufacturers, such as Sciex or Thermo Fisher) Excellent English skills (C1) Team player with strong social and communication skills What we offer: Work-life balance: Our employees enjoy flexible working hours and remote/hybrid work (upon agreement).
