Our teams of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy, across a range of therapeutic areas. The University seeking to employee a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate (Medication Safety and Opioid Stewardship) (Level A) to join A/Prof Jonathan Penm's research team at the University of Sydney. The successful candidate will contribute to nationally funded projects focused on medication safety in hospital pharmacy to improve transitions of care and post-operative pain management. This role will involve working on clinical trials, as well as contributing to the development of data-driven interventions and stewardship models to enhance patient outcomes after surgery. This position is an opportunity to work with a globally recognised leader in hospital pharmacy and opioid stewardship, access to rich datasets and collaborations across major hospitals and research networks and supportive career development, including mentorship and leadership opportunities. Your key responsibilities will be to: Lead and support research projects including clinical trials and routinely collected data Contribute to the design, implementation, and analysis of clinical trials and observational studies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including pharmacists, anaesthetists, surgeons, and data scientists Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences Supervise and mentor research students Grant writing and ethics submissions contributes to the strategic direction of the Faculty/School/Portfolio as articulated through the Faculty/School/Portfolio's Strategic Plan/s or equivalent contribute to project design, biosafety and ethics applications, grant and funding request preparation, and reporting of findings in scientific and community fora undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required. About you A PhD in pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical pharmacology, public health, or a related field Experience working with large health datasets and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, STATA) Strong publication and grant record in clinical pharmacy, pain management, or health services research. Excellent communication and project management skills A passion for improving medication safety and patient outcomes Desirable: Experience in clinical trials or registry-based studies Knowledge of clinical pharmacy, opioid stewardship and post-operative pain management Familiarity with Australian healthcare systems and data sources. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry funded research project where you will be part of the research team to develop advanced Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance (NQR) scanning technologies. Job Responsibilities Participate in research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Conduct comprehensive literature review on NQR technology, including design approaches, scanning methods, signal processing techniques, and comparison with alternative detection technologies. ii. Support design and development of NQR prototype, including system architecture, component selection, and experimental setup. iii. Conduct lab and site tests to evaluate the performance of NQR prototype. iv. Generate design documents and test documents at every stage of development until the final prototype. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.  Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Has a bachelor’s degree in Electronics; Specialization in RF/Microwave or Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is preferred. Has solid knowledge of electronics, including circuit design, PCB layout, and hardware troubleshooting. Has relevant competence in the areas of Radio Frequency design and measurement; Familiarity with high-power amplifier systems is a plus. Has relevant experience in the areas of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) design and implementation is a plus. Experience in electromagnetic simulation using CST Studio Suite and circuit simulation with PSpice, LTspice, or equivalent is an advantage. Experience with developing software for instrument control and data acquisition using LabVIEW is helpful. Key Competencies Strong experimental skills and theoretical knowledge in electronic circuits, and RF or DSP design, with the ability to apply hands-on prototyping and system development. Description The Clinical Artificial Intelligence Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to improve patient care by developing new machine learning methodologies that tackle unique computational problems in healthcare applications. We use large real-world complex datasets, including data extracted from electronic health records and medical images, for applications pertaining to patient diagnostics and prognostics. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team and make significant contributions to the field. The researcher is expected to have (i) strong machine learning skills to improve model performance and robustness, and (ii) exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. Methodologies of interest include: multi-modal learning, foundation models, including large language models, agentic AI, multi-agent AI systems, transfer learning, self-supervised learning, and federated learning. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be primarily based at NYU Abu Dhabi. The researcher will report directly to Dr. Farah Shamout and work in close collaboration with other researchers, PhD students, and undergraduate research assistants. The researcher will engage with our regular collaborators across the NYU campuses and local medical institutions in the UAE. Key Responsibilities Research Support the supervisor in developing and implementing the research agenda; Conduct high-quality and innovative research primarily focused on ML methodology development for healthcare; Generate new high-impact ideas based on gaps and limitations of the state-of-the-art (SOTA); Design and implement experiments to compare proposed work with SOTA baselines; Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences; Communicate and present research findings at international academic gatherings; Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility; Maintain good practice in managing and accessing sensitive medical datasets; Assist the supervisor in the preparation of grant applications (as appropriate); And collaborate with scientists within the NYU Global Network and in Abu Dhabi. Schemes of Service: Research Division: Food, Chemical and Biotechnology Employment Type: Fixed Term Research Fellow / Engineer (Insect Protein Chemistry & Functional Beverage Development) As a University of Applied Learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry partners to deliver translational, impact-driven research. This role supports an awarded applied research project on cricket protein (CP)-based functional beverages, focusing on protein chemistry, emulsion engineering, scalable food processing, and consumer acceptance. The appointee will contribute to SIT's sustainable food innovation agenda, working within a multidisciplinary team with access to established research platforms and pilot-scale facilities. Key Responsibilities Characterise insect protein and their hydrolysates for compositional and techno-functional properties under different processing conditions (enzymatic hydrolysis, heating, drying, homogenization) Investigate the impact of food processing on protein-polysaccharide interactions under different food processing conditions. Profile phenolic compound and evaluate the bio-functional properties such as antioxidant activity Identify optimal processing conditions that minimise bioactive losses for functional beverage applications. Design and formulate insect protein-based oil-in-water emulsions for the encapsulation and delivery of bioactives. Develop and optimise functional beverage prototypes that are suitable for industry-scale beverage manufacturing and evaluate their emulsion stability and estimated shelf-life. Conduct in vitro bioaccessibility and bioavailability studies for encapsulated nutrients using existing SIT analytical facilities. Support the design and execution of consumer surveys assessing Singapore consumers' acceptance of foods and beverages. Perform principal component analysis (PCA) and multivariate statistics to identify relationships between demographic factors and product acceptance and integrate findings as feedback for beverage formulation. Prepare scientific manuscripts, technical reports, and progress updates for funding agencies, journals, and stakeholders. Present findings at project meetings, industry engagements, and academic conferences. Supervise and mentor junior researchers, research assistants, and students attached to the project. The candidate is to communicate with all relevant internal and external stakeholders as required to meet the project deliverables. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. Job Requirements PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Chemistry, Nutrition, or a closely related discipline. Strong master's or bachelor's degree holders with substantial relevant research experience may be considered for the Engineer grade. Solid grounding in protein chemistry, protein hydrolysis, and structure–function relationships in food systems. Hands-on experience in emulsion formulation and stability characterisation, including droplet size analysis and shelf-life assessment. Familiarity with food processing technologies such as HTST, UHT pasteurisation, drying, heating, and high-pressure or multi-stage homogenisation in beverage or liquid food systems. Working knowledge of biochemical and antioxidant assay methods, HPLC, MS, and their application in food ingredient analysis. Experience with in vitro digestion models and bioaccessibility or bioavailability testing is a strong advantage. Ability to perform quantitative data analysis and multivariate statistics (e.g., PCA); proficiency in Origin, R, or equivalent software for statistical analysis. Strong scientific writing skills with the ability to produce publication-quality manuscripts and clear technical reports.
