Named after the first woman leader of a Muslim nation in modern history, the former prime minister of Pakistan Shaheed Banzir Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University is a prominent institution of higher education. There are several similarly named universities across Pakistan, including medical schools and a women-only university in Peshawar.
The university offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs in various disciplines. The university offers a range of academic programmes including arts, social sciences, humanities, business, engineering, sciences and technology.
The university was founded in 2012 and is located in the city of Shaheed Benazirabad in the south eastern province of Sindh. Formerly known as the city of Nawabshah, it was also renamed in honour of the late Prime Minister.
