(plus 17% superannuation) Orange We are currently seeking a First Nations Health and Wellbeing Researcher to join the Rural Health Research Institute (RHRI) to support and/ or lead transformative research that strengthens the health, wellbeing, and lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly in rural and regional communities. At Level A, you will play a key role in research delivery, including conducting literature reviews, supporting data collection and analysis, and engaging with community partners. At Level B, you will take the lead in designing research projects, partnering with community through co production, preparing publications and reports, securing funding, and translating research insights into meaningful outcomes. The successful candidate will be appointed at either Level A or Level B, depending on their qualifications, skills and experience. The position will be based at our Orange campus where you will work alongside multidisciplinary researchers and leaders committed to delivering high impact research that addresses rural, remote, Indigenous and global health challenges. The Opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow in International Relations to work on the ARC project “Humane Exclusion: How States Justify Excluding Refugees.” The project examines the long history of humane-sounding arguments that Western states and other actors have used to justify controlling the mobility of Indigenous people, enslaved people, minorities, displaced people, and marginalized others. It pays particular attention to how these arguments have often relied on appeals to certain understandings of theology, race, gender, climate, and disease. Reporting to Professor Luke Glanville, the successful candidate will undertake original research on one or more of the project’s themes. The successful candidate will be expected to produce high-quality scholarly publications, contribute to project workshops, assist Professor Glanville in the management of the research project, and contribute to teaching in the Department of International Relations. Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will hold a PhD (or have submitted their thesis) in International Relations, History, or a related field. They will demonstrate strong research expertise relevant to the project. Job Description:  We are seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer to join our team for a fixed-term project. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and validating objective texture testing methods that can accurately categorize foods within the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) framework, with a specific focus on Level 5 (Minced & Moist). This role will involve designing custom test fixtures, conducting practical laboratory work, and performing data analysis to create a robust and reliable testing protocol. Key Responsbilities: Conduct a comprehensive literature review on food rheology, texture analysis, particle analysis, image analysis and the IDDSI framework. Design and execute experiments to develop new instrumental texture analysis methods suitable for IDDSI Level 5 foods. Validate new methods against existing standards and a sensory panel to ensure accuracy and clinical relevance. Collect, analyze, and interpret data from instrumental and sensory evaluations. Document all experimental procedures, findings, and analyses in technical reports and prepare presentations to industry stakeholders and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Collaborate with a research team, including food scientists, clinicians, and engineers, to ensure the developed methods are practical and clinically relevant. Job Requirements: A degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master's or Ph.D. in a related research field is advantageous. Experience with instrumental texture, image analysis and particle sizing techniques (e.g., texture analyzers, universal testing machines) is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in material characterization techniques, such as stress-strain characterization. Proficiency in analysis software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, R, or other statistical software). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
