Join the Department of Biomedical, Health and Exercise Sciences Full-time, ongoing position at our Hawthorn campus Academic Level C salary + 17% super and staff benefits About the Role We are seeking a Senior Lecturer with demonstrated teaching and research experience in neuroscience to join the Department of Biomedical, Health and Exercise Sciences in delivering the Bachelor of Health Science degree. This role will support our existing major in neuroscience to prepare our Health Science students for future-focused careers in the health sector across various fields. The position will work in collaboration with the Course Director, Department Chair and academic colleagues across the School of Health Sciences to deliver an advanced teaching program. In this role, you will undertake high-quality teaching and research in one or more areas within the neuroscience discipline. You will have experience in teaching and will contribute to the delivery and development of undergraduate coursework. You will also develop and build a high-quality research program aligned with your area of expertise as well as supervise Honours and Higher Degree Research (HDR) students and actively apply for competitive research grants and industry-supported research projects. About You To be suitable for this role, you will need to have experience in the following key accountabilities:  Demonstrated expertise in designing, managing and delivering high-quality curriculum that supports excellence in teaching and learning. An established track record of quality research, as evidenced by high-quality publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference presentations. Demonstrated ability to attract/obtain external research funding through external grants and/or industry collaboration. Professional skills such as academic leadership, resourcefulness, initiative, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment. An established track record in leading teaching and research within the neuroscience discipline is preferred.  Qualifications A doctoral qualification in an area of Biomedical science, Neuroscience, or related disciplines. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in Neuroscience. Your personal sphere of play: Your future position is located at the Department of Economic and Social History, which is part of the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies. The department has an international profile in social history, economic history, historical anthropology, and the history of knowledge. Trans-epochal and transregional approaches as well as interdisciplinary perspectives on economies and societies are part of its intellectual culture. Your immediate work partners are conducting research on the cultural history of the social in a broad sense, including the history of capitalism (in particular money and debt as social relations), history of the psychological disciplines, colonial history and decolonization, social movements, and the relation between history and social theory. Your own work is focused on the social and cultural history of Europe, or of Europe in the world, 19th to 20th century. A focus on one of the following areas is desirable though not required: History of capitalism, history of the psyche and the self, colonial history and decolonization, gender history, social movements, Austrian or Habsburg history. Important are independence as a researcher and capability for theoretical reflection as well as an interest in interdisciplinary conversations. Within the Faculty, you are involved in the focal points “Historical and Cultural Perspectives on Economy and Society” or “Global History.” Your future tasks: Active participation in research, teaching, and administration. This means: Your support the Professorship in “Cultural and Social History, 19th-20th Century” You work on your further academic qualification with a book project (second book, possibility to prepare and complete a Habilitation). You broaden your independent research profile with publications and presentations. You teach courses on the levels of BA, MA, and teachers’ certificate (Lehramt) in the discipline of History, and within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
